WHERE to get dressed?!

Where did y'all put your dresses on?? We are getting at the hotel. Hair and make-up artists are coming to us. I was always planning to get dressed there too but my planner is worried about something happening to my dress between there and the ceremony. She is picking up my dress and was just going to take it straight to the venue. Then she had me showing up at 2 to get dressed and do pictures after. But I had all these ideas for pics and everything and always envisioned it at the hotel. (I'd be getting dressed in a golf course locker room at the venue).

So what should I do? Stick with my planner's suggestion or my original thought???

Im getting dressed at a hotel that is about a 15 min drive from my venue. I think if thats always what you imagined, thats what you should do. Just make sure you have proper and nice transportation to take you to the venue and she has an emergency kit in case something does happen.

A few weddings I've been in, the girls have gotten dressed at the hotel and then drove over to the venue and it was fine. Especially if you don't have a nice place at the venue to get dressed, might as well stick with your original plan!

My venue has a bridal parlor and groom bar room so we will be getting ready there and the venue is my ceremony and reception so it makes sense, I'm going to the salon for hair then having the photographer meet us there to do before pics of the girls and I while we get finished!

It will be much nicer to get ready at the hotel.  As long as your are careful, nothing should happen to your gown.  I have seen many brides do so without any problem.

I got ready at our hotel. We had a party bus so it was easier to get in and out of then a regular car or limo!

I think you can get ready at the hotel, just be extra careful. I've seen lots of brides do this, that's what your BMs are for, to make sure you arrive looking fabulous!

I got dressed at the hotel, then wedding planner drove me to the ceremony. Worked great for me. Photographer took a couple of pics of me putting on lipstick before getting out of car and it turned out pretty nice! Everyone made sure I looked perfect! :-)

Stick with your vision -- you've been working on that a long time and might be disappointed not to have those pix.

I think you should still get dressed at the hotel. We did that for my friend's wedding and it worked out great. There was a lot of space for everyone and some beautiful places for pictures!

For me personally, I had my hair done at the salon, my make-up started in the car and finished at the church, and I got dressed at the church.  I can understand you not wanting to get ready in a locker room, so I think you can stick with your vision, but be extra careful.  Fantastic pictures can be taken on  your ride to the venue (if you're going by car), but I also know that TimilyL had some amazing pictures of her and her ladies walking to their venue.

Getting dress at the hotel would be perfect!!! You don't want ot put your dress somewhere you don't feel comfortable! Moreover, if you can put your dress while your hairdresser is still there, it's a big +++++!

I put my dress at my parents home and I did 15-20 minutes of limo drive to go to my venue...NO PROBLEM at all. And it seems to me (by the look on pictures) that the fabric of your dress isn't something that will get wrinkled if you have to sit during deplacement.

So go for what you truly want...not what your DOC wants!
