Where to put the groom's cake?

Hi ladies,

I am having trouble deciding where to put the groom's cake at the reception.  I know a lot of people place it next to the wedding cake or on a table right next to it...but I don't want to take away from the actual wedding cake..it's so pretty!  Any ideas?

THANKS!

A wedding I went to last year had the groom's cake in the area where they had the cocktail hour. It was a fun conversation piece!

Ohhh, I like the idea of having it out at cocktail hour! Now that I think about it, that's where it was at the one wedding I went to that had one.

Yes - cocktail or near the entrance - maybe on the other side of room from where the cake will be.  Is it a surprise for FH?

We are having ours at our rehearsal dinner, but I have seen it near the wedding cake.

We will have ours set up about 10 feet from the wedding cake.  That way its a short walk between cutting both cakes, but they still get to stand on their own.

What is the groom's cake going to be?

Thanks ladies!  My groom knows that there will be a groom's cake but he doesn't know what it is.  His grandmother who he was really close with passed away a few years ago and she was really into nature (plants, birds, etc.).  His family now says that every time they see a cardinal they think of her.  :)  I ended up having the groom's cake be of a cardinal.  I think my FI will appreciate it.

that's a very sweet groom's cake idea!

We did ours right next to the wedding cake....but the table we used was big-ish...I don't think it took away BUT in your case, since it has meaning, it may be worth while to have a separate table???
