Which vendor is most important?

I am in the process of putting together my wedding budget, and I know that I need to prioritize which vendors are most imporant to me as well. I would love to hear which vendor you feel is most important, or which one you booked first (aside from venue).
Thanks for the advice!

There are so many elements of a wedding that it's easy to feel overwhelmed and not know where to start. Instead of thinking about the 'vendor', think about the overall wedding experience for yourself and your guests. For some people, it's all about the food and drinks, then catering and food menu is most imporant. Some couples care more about the 'wow' factor, they'd splurge on the flowers, draping, lighting, etc. Some people hate boring weddings, so I recommend they hire really good entertainers, DJ, Live band, performers to make the wedding not boring. So it really depends on what's most important to you and your significant other.

I think this practical guide can help you out:

Wedding Photographer!  After everything is said and done your wedding photos will give you memories for a lifetime.  Other than that, make a list of everything important to you as well as what you do not care about and spend your budget accordingly.

I'd say wedding photographer. It's just one of those things that you have to get it right.

Here is a list of 10 most important vendors which every wedding needs
1) Planner
2) Photographer
3) Videographer
4) Caterer
5) Bakery
6) DJ/band
7) Hair stylist, make up artist
8) Florist
9) Wedding dress boutique
10) Jewelry boutique

Now it's your turn to decide which of them is mandatory and which are not as per your requirement. Alternatively, you can take the advice from Wedding Planner, just tell them your requirement and your budget and they will arrange for you.

This is a matter of personal opinion. What's the most important desire of the bride and groom. Are they concerned with dancing or capturing the moment. Maybe their decor has the biggest significance to them. Their desires will drive who's the most important vendor for that special night.

For me, live music was the most important thing. A live band makes a wedding special for everyone, my guests were talking about our band for months afterwards. Compared to the costs of a venue, or catering, or even the dress, a decent band needn't break the bank. I found a link about the costs of a live wedding band, and I think it gives a pretty good summary of the kinds of choices you need to think about. Like most things, you could spend a lot or not very much at all, depending on your overall budget and the kind of music you like.

I personally found this extremely helpful when selecting vendors and being budget-conscious:  http://www.exclusivelyweddings.com/media/pdf/The-Organized-Bride-eBook-by-Exclusively-Weddings.pdf

Like others have said, I think it definitely depends from person to person. It's best just to be prepared and plan/secure vendors as early as you can. When you envision your wedding, what do you think of first/or what is something you couldn't live without at your wedding. Also ask any friends/family members who have been engaged what vendor they were most happy to have had at the wedding or ones who made the most difference in their special day! Hope this helps :)

Food is the most important in my opinion, but one way to keep a good portion of the budget to catering is by reducing portions of the budget for other things. Better to get the semi-important stuff out of the way first, is what I think.

Like, if you want cheap wholesale centerpieces, go to some online vase wholesaler, like Vase Market or something. Skip the live band performances if you can and go with your own curated playlist. Spend nicely on a photographer.
