Who, What, Where and How to:
Project Wedding is ...
- a community of people that love to talk about weddings and share advice
- a comprehensive local vendor listing organized by rating and price range
- a one-stop, organized source for vendor recommendations and reviews from real people
- an organized index of wedding vendor reviews from across the web
- a great place to brainstorm ideas for your wedding
- a tool to help you plan for your big day
If there is one thing that I would recommend you do first, it's introduce yourself on the main board! You can simply make a "new topic" post, headed with "Newbie: (and your username)" -- This is where your PW addiction begins.
Project Wedding is a friendly and welcoming community, and we LOVE to get to know our "newbies". At first glance the board may seem a bit overwhelming, but we are all here to help. If you have questions, feel free to PM myself or anyone else (including our many hostesses: http://www.projectwedding.com/groups/boards/ask-a-hostess) if you feel they may have the better answer. We are more of a family here than anything, so please don't feel as if you're intruding. Once you become a part of this community, you're stuck with us for the long haul. lol.
You may see a few things that are a bit different from other communities. For example, under member icons, you'll see carats and pink hearts. Members are ranked by carats (http://www.projectwedding.com/wedding-ideas/project-wedding-community-carats). The more you post, the more carats you receive & you may even be spotlighted on the leader boards located on the bottom right side of the main board. Hostesses, wear a red heart badge, we are always here to help. The job of a hostess is to try and keep our community as positive and welcoming as possible.
There will come times when our boards may seem a bit slower, or you may feel like you're questions aren't being answered, or given as much attention as others. I highly recommend "bumping" anything that you've posted that has been missed. The way you do this is by posting a response to your own thread with the word *bump* -- its that easy. You can *bump* the topic to the top of the boards as much as you like, until you're satisfied with the responses received.
When you've created a "new topic", you can follow its progress by:
a) checking the box at the bottom of the text box (next to the submit button) that says "receive email notifications".
b) clicking the link located in the right hand column under the -activities- section, that is labled "my posts".
While PW is for the most part a positive community, as with any consisting of 1000's of members, we sometimes come across members who can be a bit snarky. If you ever feel a member's response or behavior is out of line or offensive, feel free to "flag" their post (this option is located at the bottom of every comment). This gives our PW team a heads up and allows them to handle things the best way possible. Please don't take responses too much to heart, and don't get upset if someone says something that you may not agree with. We are all here to help each other for the most part, and differences of opinions are bound to happen.
Groups are created for members who share a mutual liking for a particular subject. The option is open to join as little or as many groups as you like, or even create your own. Classifieds are the same, free for all to post. However classifieds should never be posted on the main forum.
I hope this helps you a bit with becoming more familiar with things here. If I missed anything that you feel is important or a need-to-know, dont hesitate to ask.
Goodluck & Happy Planning =)
