Why did you and your fiancee chose april as the month to get married and was it your first pick as far as the month goes?
April was not my fiance and mine's first choice. We initally wanted November 2009 but since we are having an outdoor ceremony we figured it would be too cold. We then decided to move our wedding date to May however my fiance's aunt (who is basically the matriarch of their family) is planning to travel out of the country that month so we decided to move it to April.
Hahaha long story short it worked out because its just warm enough to have an outdoor wedding but just enough time before "wedding season" so we got good pricing from our vendors. Woot!!
i always wanted a spring wedding...but i didn't want my wedding to be the same month as my birthday. and pretty much 4 +2 +4 = 10 (04.24.10). crazy? yes, i know. plus the 24th day is the same day as our anniversary in september. i always thought i wanted to get married on our anniversary date but we would have to wail until 2011 for that to happen. can't wait any longer!!!
It was the first month available at the venue I wanted. =)
we wanted a Fall wedding....but couldn't
We also Wanted a Spring Wedding...April was suppose to be the time he'd be back from Iraq, It's his BDAY Month. It's a happy, NEW, Fresh Month...So we went with it..the 3rd is Easter weekend.;)
April doesn't hold any significance for us. It was more or less the only time we could get all our family's out to Hawaii. Lots of schedules to juggle (work, school, travel) so this time just worked best for us- and gave us enough time to plan.
Although, that being said-- only 201 days left!! :)
April is default. I wanted October, but we didn't get engaged until January of this year so that was too close. I wanted May of 2010 but it is a ratings month for my FI and he works weekends. They wouldn't give him the days off. Seriously.
April was a month that just worked. I have always always always wanted a June wedding but he and I area planning to move to Japan to teach english and that would have only given us a month before we left. Also april is our 6 month mark since we started dating in october. So we will be married 6 1/2 years after we started dating. I wanted the 24th but the 17th was the only free weekend where I wanted the venue!
But any date I marry him will be the happiest day!
My Fiance and I initially wanted September, however the prices were very expensive. The place where I am getting married considers April as an Off-season and was a bit cheaper. So we decided April 24th is at the end of the month and would be perfect!
Originally we were going to get married in Hawaii when my family was having our Family Reunion. However, since all of FI's family live in Minnesota, it was going to be quite expensive of a trip for us to ask them to all come out. So we decided on a Destination Wedding. We just kept the same month ~ April. It just works for everyone. It was a year out and still have everyone enough time to request vacation time since the cruise is a Monday thru Friday cruise! :)
1st saturday after easter! thats y we picked our date
We wanted to wait untill we had a holiday that both of our familes would be here for. So that way we would save everyone the cost of 2 trips. We have people coming from as far as WA and we live in NC. Also our baby is turning 1 in March and wanted to be able to have 1 *night* away from him for ourselves! ;) Just wanting to wait till he was a little older.
We choose it because it is the month we got engaged and before season in Sonoma. :)
It just seemed to be the logical choice. :-) The tradition in my family is to get married in September. This September was too soon and next September was to far away. I didn't want to be a summer bride and I didn't want to get married in May since that was the month he got married in for his first wedding (this will be his second wedding and my first) and winter seemed to cold so spring was perfect! :-D
My FI and I met in April 14 years ago. Its the same month as my parents anniversary, my dad's, his dad's and my grandma's birthdays.
The other thing was we didn't want to use a month that was Wedding Crazy like June through August.
Because it's my favorite time of year and I wanted peonies to be in season! In SoCal--peonies are only in season during a small, small window. Ibet the florists won't even guarantee them either. Oh well, I'll be ok if I don't get them.... I'm getting married! :)
We got engaged at the end of March this year and we wanted to be enaged for around a year, we went through each month and would cross it off due to holidays & bdays & decided on April. We chose 4-10-2010 because we thought it sounded nice.
FI and I both love spring and because our first trip together (which happened to be to Aruba) took place in April...we decided to return to that same island during the same month two years later to become husband and wife :0)
HEHE, it's an easy way not to remember another date... our 5 year anniversary :P
So I can have peonies and waiting until April 2011 was just too long especially since we've been together for almost 7 years! :)
April was not our first choice. We considered all the events that would take place in the town where we're getting married in. It's where we went to college and you can imagine cultural events, sporting events and everything else. We got engaged on New Year's Day 2009 and originally thought of October 2009 but that would have been a month after being in another wedding and the month before my birthday and so close to Christmas. I didn't want a winter wedding because I really want to show off my dress without freezing so April it was! Then we had to narrow down the weekend in April. At the time, I didn't realize it was the day before Easter.
