WRONG COLOR DRESS #2

i have 32 days left til my wedding day. My "backup" pleated dress was made in some weird yellowish ivory color rather than the "ivory/old lace" nice off-white. I didn't notice this for the longest time because i thought it was just the lighting inside my house. I took all the dresses to an alterations place today and saw them as if for the first time.

Dress #2 looked realllly...yellow. I flipped over the organza layer of Dress #1 to reveal the off-white duchess satin skirt underneath, compared it with Dress #2, and yeah there's an obvious difference. What the heck?? They either made the first dress in WHITE (even though I asked for ivory/old lace) or they used something different for Dress #2. It's not the pleasing off-white that everyone has gushed about. It's YELLOWISH. If my complimentary color wasn't gray (all the BMs are wearing gray wrap dresses), I might've been able to let that slide.

I wanted to alter and wear Dress #2 because the alterations are a lot less and therefore cheaper. Plus I love the style. WHAT DO I DO NOW? There is absolutely no time...

I'm really regretting ever doing this buying-dresses-abroad thing. They haven't done anything right. The first ruffly dress took so much more additional money to get the ruffles right, and they still aren't right! Organza grade sucks, not soft, the sides look like wings sticking out, I'm even considering ripping out the whole top layer and just leave it the simple duchess satin bottom with a lace top, of which the neckline is uneven. Seamstress said she'd have to take apart the whole dress to take off the organza layer = $$$. Dress #2 - different color entirely. WTF? Otherwise salvageable.. Reception Dress - under-the-bust seam falls a whole inch lower than what I specified with words and diagrams and photos. The waist "band" is .5" too short as well. This whole process has been a complete failure. Sorry to put such a damper on things - I know lots of people have had great experiences and I had such high hopes too. I might just have to go to David's Bridal and get a whole 'nother dress for $549 with such short notice. UGH!!

Oh no, I'm really sorry to hear that! Did you contact them about it?

I found the thread with the pics of the second dress, maybe they got it cunfused since the first pics are more of a goldish color than ivory. That shouldn't matter though if you specified ivory!

Yep I emailed them. My first email was to ask what color the satin was for the first dress, just so they can't backtrack later. Ashley told me ivory/old lace. THEN I emailed again saying that's what I remembered ordering, but the second dress was a completely different shade of ivory. Lets see what they say... aaaauuughhhh baaaad. :(

Did you get a reply yet?

This had me worried, so I emailed them yesterday to make sure my second dress is the same ivory/old lace as the first one, and they replied this morning and said it will be the same.

Hey Helena,

Here's what I got in response:

Our production department has checked our all of your pictures.  According to our production record, our dressmaker did make the second dress in color ivory as you ordered.

The first dress you ordered is made organza and satin. The second dress you ordered is made satin. However, we have updating out fabrics during this quarter. So, the fabrics satin  of the first dress we used is no as same as the satin fabrics of the second dress in ivory color. There are two different batches of satin fabrics. The second dress is made by our new updating satin fabrics. Therefore, there is a little color different for these two dresses.

We are really sorry to make you inconvenient. In fact, the whole dress is very beautiful except the color problem.  Given for this, we would like to give you 15.00USD coupons as compensation. Please leave the dress to wear. Thanks.

Yes, it is "ivory" but an entirely different fabric, sheen, feel, COLOR. It's even more apparent in sunlight when the rays hit the pleats' edges or shine through the fabric. If the color motif hadn't already been set for months, I'd have time to change the flowers, accessories, sashes... but yellow and purple? NO. A wedding is too costly to just say "whatever" about this kind of mistake on a dress. I should have thought of that before I decided to buy one abroad.Hey Helena Here s photo 2285556-1

Yep, that is definitely a different color!! And 15 bucks?! No, they didn't handle that good. If they're changing their fabrics and batches and whatnot, they need to match the colors. So, what are you going to do? I actually like purple and yellow :-) but I realize that doesn't help you at all... I'm so sorry!!

Haha I like purple and yellow FLOWERS together... but not purple against some piss-colored dress. Pardon the language - i am bitter.

I emailed them to make me a dress in the correct fabric and I'll send the ivory dress back. If the pleated style is too complicated or takes too long to make, I linked them to an alternate dress on their site ($106) which has a lace bustier but no detail on the skirt at all - whichever's quickest! Then I said if they're unwilling to make a new dress (which will be the issue) then I'd like a full refund plus the cost to ship back the ivory dress in case they want it back to resell.

man this blows.
