Did you have a hand in picking out your engagement ring or was it a surprise?
My original E-ring was a surprised. We kind of got engaged on a whim, but after a year and fessed up that the ring just wasn't my style. So we wound up getting me a new ring that I wear as my engagement ring, and the original one I am getting melted down and turned into a necklace pendant so I can wear it every day.
It was a complete surprise! He knew what type of metal I liked wearing, and he asked me about what stone cuts I liked (princess, asscher, and cushion). He said that when he went to look at rings, the one he chose is the one that spoke to him immediately. And he did a fantastic job because it fits my personality perfectly.
My best friend had been with her BF for awhile and she was browsing engagement rings online and thats when I saw the one - so the information got relayed. If the whole thing was on purpose to figure out what I wanted, it was incredibly sneaky the way it was executed. :)
the very first time he proposed i though it was just a joke coz its over skype..and were ocean aways from each other..so definitely there's no ring..but when i went back to LA, i do have a hint already that he would proposed again..so it wasn't a surprise to me..he picked the ring for me..and i love it..the sparks was telling me that he spend $,$$$.$$ on it...and when one day i was cleaning our closet, the receipt from the store where he boguht the ring..that's the thing that surprise me.or rather i would say i was a little in shock...after that..i always makes sure i have to triple extra care on my e-ring.
It was a complete surprise. It's somewhat what I like (except for the cut of the stone and the fact that I would have liked a few more...) so I really don't mind so much. If I ever lose a stone I'll petition for something else.
FI and I were taking turns giving each other funny Myspace (yeah, that long ago!) quiz(s). And he was asking me a set with yes or no answers. He snuck the, "Would you want to marry me?" in the middle of it. So, I started looking at rings that night, lol.
I found one I LOVED! But they're located Sweden and we weren't comfortable having it shipped. So, FI went and had one similar (and more to my liking) made here locally. I LOVE my e-ring!
A while before we were thinking about marriage, my sister dragged me into Tiffany's where I immediately fell in love with a halo pave e-ring...but *gasp* was $13,000!!! I showed FI -then BF- what it looked like and he remembered years later that's what I wanted!
The only difference was the Tiffany's stone was cushion cut which I love, but the price of that cut is more expensive than princess so he went with a princess cut also because he always thought all girls wanted princess cut rings. LOL. ANYWAYS, I love my ring to death!
he asked me ,ho said he couldn´t bear if i did not love it. so i showed him what i loved
I picked it out...and it was a good this cause I wanted just a solitary but when I tried mine I was soooo in love!!!
cute post! FI reallllly wanted to have my ring be a suprise, so i used to pull up different jewler websites and "test" him, to see if he picked out the ring i liked the best on that page, just so i knew he understood my style. we were at the mall one day and decided to pop into a jewelery store just to browse, much before we were ready to get engaged, but trying rings on is always fun! so i tired on about 4 rings that i thought were my style, none of which i loved on my finger.(i didnt realize that rings would look sooo different on my finger then in the displays!!) drew was just observing, so he didnt say much. but then a ring caught his eye and suggested i try it on. i wasnt impressed, but i tried it on anyway. my jaw dropped!!!! i fell head over heals in love with this ring. then they told us the price, and i knewww it wasnt a possibility in this point of our lives. i was crushed! for the next 6 months, we continued to ring shop and i was looking for the closest replica in our budget of that origional ring. i found a ring that "would do" but i wasnt completely sold. to make a longer story short, i got the origional ring! and even though we picked it out together, we both love the fact that drew is the one who origionally suggested it, because i would have completely overlooked it otherwise!
Of course i picked mine! "As if you can trust a man to chose all by himself an accessory you will wear every day of your life" :-P
I got a token ring when he engaged to me then we went and chose the real deal together when we got home from NYC ^_^
Mine was a suprise! He picked it out all by himself. I kinda told him what I liked and didnt like.
It was a surprise and better than the one I had imagined :)
I picked my ring out!
I totally had a say in picking my engagement ring! I can't stand surprises so I made sure that my boyfriend knew exactly what I wanted. I got an emerald cut pave, 2.1 carat engagement ring online from James Allen. The company was easy to work with and their prices are way better than in store prices. The ring is just stuning! If my boyfriend picked out the engagement ring it would be a disaster. I'm very very glad I had a say!
