1st prenatal appointment & ultrasound: 6 weeks
Hey, ladies! :)
I went to my first prenatal visit today, and I wanted to share my experience, especially since it was done so early. I am 7 weeks 2 days based on the date of my last period, but due to the size of the baby, they put me at 6 weeks 1 day (which wasn't surprising... temping and using OPKs--knowing I ovulate late. I already expected that ;) )
I was so excited that I got to see the little bean so early, but nervous, because I knew that we might not see a heartbeat. I watched a few youtube videos of other 6 week ultrasounds, so as soon as my uterus was on the screen, I knew what to look for and saw the little heart. We even got to hear it. The lady moved quickly, and wasn't much for tolerating me being sappy, but I didn't care. It was our moment :) And we took a moment to thank God, especially after my pelvic pain. For this visit at least, everything is on course.
They did a bunch of bloodwork and then gave me a whole packet of samples and info. I was shocked at how many samples I got. Anyone else feel this way? I know that pregnancy is a business, but sheesh! I got 8 different samples of prenatal vitamins! LOL.
I also a got a flu shot because my doctor recommended it (along with all 3 docs I have talked to). I did not do a Pap because I got one 3 months ago at my physical. They were going to do it anyway, but I asked them not to because I didn't want to deal with bleeding that could come from it. I don't need another thing to freak me out...especially because my results from July were normal.
