And I'm going to a specialist

My platelet level dropped again to 100 so the doctors and midwife suggested I go see a specialist for more bloodwork.  They figure it's just because I'm pregnant and not a blood disorder or anything like that but they want me to go just to be sure.  I know it sounds bad but I really dont want to drive the 3.5 hour trip just to have blood drawn....boo!

I know, I dont understand why I have to go to that hospital just for them to draw blood either.  I still have to go to my local hospital to have blood drawn for the midwife AND now go down there for the specialist.

Luckily, this whole issue doesnt effect the LO at all, it only affects me at time of delivery.

Please do whatever you need to no matter how inconvenient it may seem to ensure a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery...I hemmoraged after delivery and lost 40% of my blood and needed a transfusion...

That is awful, I don't understand why you have to drive so far either :-( But, definitely a good idea to get everything done, especially based on Jackie's feedback. Best to do everything you can now...

Oh yeah I don't mind doing it, it's just the downside of living in a small town.

I so feel your pain right now with the small town! Never imagined I would be in a tiny town across the country from my family in this situation. It definitely throws a wrench in things. My parents freaked out when they came to visit and saw that our hospital is 45 minutes away! I reminded them that as a FTM, my labor will likely be 12+ hours, so there is plenty of time to get there!! Lol

haha I'm born and raised in a small town so having to drive at least an hour to get somewhere is nothing new, it just stinks that this trip is over 3. haha

Yikes that drive doesn't sound like fun and it's too bad they can't send your blood there. Good luck and drive safely!
