Designer hospital gowns for maternity?

I just had another wonder appointment with my doula today.  We talked so much about my plans, ideas, exercises and even had an extremely relaxing prenatal massage.  While we were talking she told me about her last labor and delivery and mentioned that the mother had the cutest hospital gown that was function but perfect for pictures and said I should consider getting one.  Of course, I said nah.  I'm going to be a hot, sweaty and bloody mess right?  Why dress up for that?  But some of the benefits are the snap closures on the back for added modesty and snap front flaps for easy breadtfeeding and skin to skin contact without completely stripping off the hospital gown.  So I googled it and now I'm considering it.  For those that's been there, done that, it is worth the added expense?

Just delivered Monday...I have to say NO on this...I went thru a lot of hospital gowns...everything for blood on it multiple times...anything of my own would have been ruined...my hospital has gowns that open in the front in two spots for feeding. I thought I would want to get my own gown too...but I'm happy I didn't bother. But do whatever you like! (Or put that towards your private suite)

Totally agree with Jackie....my dr placed my son on me as soon as he came out which means all his baby gunk was then on my gown. Plus you are a bloody (literally) hot mess. I bought some cheapy type nightgowns to wear and they were prefect.
My gown also had easy access for breast feeding. And to but quite honest by the time I got to the labor part all my modesty was out the window and I didn't really care who saw my butt crack :-)

Scope out Baby Steals and Zuiliy I think I saw those gowns on one of those.

I'd buy one :) I think I would change into it after having the baby is born... As far as I know (FTM here), you have to stay in the gown for awhile after right?

I just think if I have to wear one after the birth, I might as well look cute when visitors are coming in & out for pictures.

Just my thoughts...you are going to be in a great deal of pain...and using the restroom is MESSY...I didn't wear one thing of my own until we got ready to go home...plus if you have a regular vaginal delivery with no complications you won't be in the hospital that long...

Agreed, it's probably a waste but I do want something of my own to change into for comfort and possibly pictures.

If you are going to buy anything I would get a regular nightgown with a robe. I had one of the nursing nightgown and robe sets from motherhood maternity and I really liked that. As soon as I was able to change out of the hospital gown I would not have wanted to change into another hospital gown just for photos- it was nice feeling like a regular person in normal clothes. And since it was easy to nurse in I wore it at home a lot the first couple of months too. I plan on laboring in a sports bra and nothing else this time lol. I could have cared less last time and had I spent money on something it probably would have just sat on the floor.
