Finally! (funny story)
So I commute to work via subway everyday. And for the past year, I have been randomly offered seats by fellow commuters, who happen to be young, able- bodied women! That meant only one thing, they thought I was pregnant. Ugh! And back then it was offensive, heartbreaking and embarrassing. I mean, Ok, I kinda can see it. Sorta. I don’t have a chubby face, my legs aren’t slender but more muscular from years of running, I’m proud to day my arms are not thick. But my tummy! That’s where I gain all my weight when I stopped going to the gym and eat more that I really should. And since I had to stop running when I started my IUI/IVF treatments, I simply gained weight and thus looked kinda pregnant. One time, a young Asian woman, tapped me on the arm and insisted I take her seat. I tried to graciously decline but she was so insistent! I finally relented and, get this, I placed my hand on my love handles and thanked her. She smiled as if she knew my uterus was glowing with life. Ladies, it was my belly fat and I thanked this lady. For shame!!
Fast forward to this morning, when a 9 weeks pregnant me got on the subway, a man, who initially rushed past me to get a free seat took a look at my belly and offered his seat. Finally, I accepted a seat, guilt free! (Sorta. At 9 weeks, you really don’t show much. Unless you’re a plump like me ; )
Just had to share : )
