Hand-Me-Downs are Letting me Down :(

I don't want to sound ungrateful or unappreciative because I appreciate everything we've received.

HOWEVER.

We recently received a hand me down pack n play from friends. They are done having children and said we can keep it. I was so excited to take it because their pack n play comes with the little changing table which is the only thing we do not have space for in our bedroom (LO is staying in our room for a bit).

Well, when we got home and opened the pack n play it was covered in dog fur. I know I can probably vacuum the hair but I'm completely turned off and don't feel comfortable having my newborn in it at all :(

So now, they have offered to give us their bassinet! And I'm pretty sure that's covered in dog hair too, how can I politely decline without hurting their feelings or sounding unappreciative?

TIA!

Off I go searching for a bassinet online.

I know the feeling! I've gotten numerous offers from people for similar items. Some things I'd take but others I'm not so sure about. I have to keep telling people that I won't know what we'll need till after the shower. Things I've been offered that aren't expected to be returned like clothes and a crib mattress I can just take to go through and keep what's good and just toss what's not. And for the other things, I'll probably just say we don't need it. I know it's hard when people are just trying to help you out so you don't wanna hurt their feelings :( Haleigh has a good suggestion! I've used that one too lol

I know...I've recieved a few things that made me raise and eyebrow, and I politely discarded them, but sent a thank you note to the person anyway.  So, yeah....totally normal.  I declined a bassinet from someone on the basis that we didn't have room for it and I planned to use the pack and play as the same thing.  They didn't bat an eye.  :)
