In Limbo

Hey ladies! So here is my current situation (I feel like it's constantly up and down)! I went to the clinic on the 2nd and they only did a urine test and confirmed the pregnancy. I explained to the MA I spoke with that my insurance I had while in school had expired and I'm unable to get on DH's insurance through work until April. She suggested I try to apply for our Medicaid here. Well, I did the application online last week and then was on the phone all morning yesterday being transferred from one person to another and basically they all said it takes up to a month to find out if you are approved. I'm worried we will be above the cut off, but I'm starting nursing school again next week and will only be working 2 days a week. Hardly much income on my part unti lI graduate in May. I had no spotting for about a week then a tiny bit of the light brown again here or there the last few days (not even enough to cover a panty liner). Well, this morning I woke up and had the brown red again when I wiped like I did the last time a few weeks ago when I freaked out! I'm home for the day and am just going to keep moitoring it, but so far there's been no more since this morning. I just feel like I'm in limbo. Still, the only people who know is DH and you ladies. I feel like it's maybe not serious enough to go the the ER or anything (no cramping or more spotting) but until I find out if I can qualify for insurance, I'll be almost done with my first trimester. I'm so scared I'll go the the appointment and they'll tell me they can't find a heartbeat or something and I should've come sooner. The MA told me though, no one would see me until I have insurance figured out and we can't afford an ER bill right now. The clinic I went to doesn't do u/s or even blood work. I was doing fine, no spotting or anything and I guess I still feel ok but still practically no symptoms. I'm not sure if I should just wait it out to hear from the insurance. I guess I feel like what other option do I have? I still haven't said anything to my family, which is killing me, but it sounds like such a mess, but I also don't want to say anything until I know what's going on... which could be another 4 or 5 weeks! Sorry this is so long! I know DH is trying to be understanding as well, but I also know it's hard when he basically just has to take my word for what's going on so it's probably hard to wrap his head around it.

I am so sorry you are in this crazy unknown place!

I wish I had some advice to share. Hopefully the next few weeks will fly by! How far along do you think you are?

Some women spot their whole pregnancy. This could be your normal. If its only now and then and not constant - with no cramping or pain and not getting more red then id relax. Stress isn't good! Drink lots of fluids- try to keep your feet up.

Insurance- usually schools offer some plans maybe look into that to cover you until you know about the others? Or find another clinic where they can see you and do more tests.

You can always pee on some more sticks to help to feel better...i did a few times when i didn't feel preg bc i had no symptoms for a long time!

What about a planned parenthood?  Do they offer any further services than just confirmation?  Glad to hear the spotting is sporatic at best, that's a good sign!  And symptoms can be weird, I go weeks without them sometimes!

I just looked into Planned Parenthood in our area and their site says the same thing... they only do urine pregnancy tests no blood, so I don't think they'll be able to tell me anything I don't already know. I would feel so much better just getting an u/s and knowing what's going on, if this is ok or what. I'm hoping it just is my normal. I took a hpt two days ago and BFP still popped up after about a minute or two, so fx it's ok. It just freaks me out each time there's a little more that a tiny bit. I'm trying to keep it in the back of my head unless it's bright red, new blood and a lot, not to worry (which it hasn't been). This is also a TMI question, but anyone else who's had spotting, did you get any tiny bits of brown tissue with it? Every once in awhile there's a very tiny bit with the spotting. No clots or anything but the only way I can think to describe it is like when you get a sunburn and peel and the tiny bits of skin flake or peel off, but brown... which to me says old tissue obviously, but not sure where it's coming from. I'm just going to try and not stress too much and just keep taking my vitamins and drinking lots of water and hoping for the best until I can see the doctor. Thanks you again so much for the feedback! :) It helps a lot!

It kinda does sound like old blood that's just being flushed out.  If there's not much you can do at this point then try not to stress over it, though I know it's hard. I would just keep testing until you see an OB.

my spotting was mostly tinged mucus.  do you know of any uterine issues you may have previously had?  i always had a very small uterus and had very heavy flows when i was not on BC, so the pregnancy stretching cause a lot of discomfort and spotting.

I don't know of any previous issues. When I had the u/s for my mc my charting that was posted in my records said there was a centimeter sized cyst on one of my ovaries, but nothing of any concern. (Apparently not bc they didn't even mention it to me at the appointment. I read it on my online chart after the fact). But I read those can be common and will disappear over a month or two? My cycles would range anywhere from 30 days to 40 so they weren't always clockwork, but I've never been on any form of BC at all and I always got a period each month, and since starting OPK I've always O'ed as well. I was thinking that is was old uterine tissue, but then, shouldn't that be closed off? It hasn't happened a lot, more with the first time the spotting started and majority of the time it has been the light brown or tan. On one hand it's scary it keeps happening on and off, which makes me think is it going to eventually progress into something else or what is the deal? Sometimes reading on the Internet just freaks you out more, too bc then I just keep reading all these horrible possibilities of what else it could be. It's hard too with it being still early on and not really "feeling pregnant" yet so of course you feel like a wreck the whole time wondering.

yea reading what could go wrong is always bad news bears - it just ends up making you sick!  there are a couple things that i see could be happening in this stage: you could be shedding old menstraul blood/tissue, the stretching could be loosening some old tissue up, or the miniscule placenta/cord that is burrowing could be causing these symptoms.  all very common things!  a cyst could also cause the problems, like you said.  i clearly remember googling spotting at 7 weeks and found a lot of scary information, but i waited until my dr apt at 9 weeks to confirm with the dr we were ok.  i even had spotting the morning of my appt.

as for symptoms, i started getting morning sickness at 6 weeks that was worse in the evenings.  i was really tired and my boobs grew a few inches.  symptoms vary by woman and by gender it seems - i'm having a girl and i had all of the classic wives tales that are associated with that.  so maybe you're lucky and won't get any bad symptoms!  have you been feeling tired, dizzy, or overly hungry?  those are some subtle symptoms that are easily dismissed.

Yeah, Haleigh! I Googled the same thing... I haven't had much more the last couple days, now back to light tan or none at all. I've noticed I've been feeling kind of crummy in the mornings, but not necessarily full out nauseous, almost like when you feel like you have the flu coming on, but then it goes away and I get the same sometimes in the evenings. Sometimes all the sudden a food will sound really good and then right after I eat or as I' eating I get grossed out feeling lol like I can't eat anymore, so hopefully a good sign I guess? I haven't actually thrown up, but get the occasional wave of nausea. The other night DH brought food home that when he left and I told him what I wanted it sounded really good, but when he got home it smelled gross to me and I could hardly eat it! I know as of right now a doctor may not have seen me yet anyway so fx I'm still in that window of time anyway and everything seems to be going ok. :) I can't believe how stressed/worried this makes me sometimes!

Not sure if there is one in your area but I would check out some local hospitals and see if they have a clinic. Right after highschool I worked in a clinic in a local hospital. They offered everything from internal medicine, obstetrics & gyn to dysplasia clinic. The clinic is staffed by residents but they are overseen by a attending md who will consult all patients. They had payment plans for c-sections and vaginal deliveries. I know a vaginal delivery was around 3500 and csection was 5k and that included all prenatal, u/s, rx, hospital stay and delivery.

I would also call some local teen pregnancy clinic and see if they can give you a referral to some where that can help with prenatal care. If you just wanting an u/s to see the baby, then check out your local colleges in the area for ultrasound technicians. My schools offers prenatal sonography program and post regulary for students and others needed for u/s in order for the prenatal students to leave on live people. Good luck and praying for you!!

Those sound like real symptoms! I had the same thing early on. Try cooking chicken - I gagged the entire time and couldn't eat it!
