Lunch Meat Debate

Ok, I know they say you aren't supposed to eat lunch meat and what not, but I bought the stuff in the container (I forget the brand) and have read you can heat it for 15 seconds in the microwave.  My question is, if I do that in the morning and then make it into a sandwich, is it still safe or do I have to do that and then eat it as soon as it cools?  Just want to keep with protocol and all.

I read that as long as you heat it, it should be ok. But I'm avoiding deli meats regardless.

I was a bad preggo and ate cold lunch meat!  Sub sandwiches were something I craved along with Tuna subs from Subway.  I did try to limit it to once a week and tried to go to places that sliced the meat fresh.

So you girls think I'm safe then?  At least heat it and then I can make my sandwich in the morning and eat it at lunch time and I will be ok?

Oh I didn't know about the heating thing, I'll have to do that. I don't eat it very often but I've been bad and eating it how it comes lol. And I would think by lunch time it would still be ok, but I'm not sure. @Princessjen I've been craving tuna as well! Seems like I keep wanting the things you're either supposed to limit or stay away from completely, like margaritas :( lol

@AuntTate - Yes, I would say so!

@future - It was insane!  I would finally breakdown and eat one and it was heaven :)

I only eat roast beef that was pre-cooked and re-heated, or turkey breast sandwhiches (not turkey deli meat).  that link is helpful too, all I've wanted lately is a corndog and I've been too scared to eat one!

I was eating a bunch of salami until I read in "What to Expect When Your Expecting" that I shouldn't eat lunch meat. Since then I've avoided it completely even though I have hard core cravings for salami.

My doc said I could eat lunch meat with out heating it up. Only thing she said was no sushi- California rolls r ok and limit fish to once a week. I think it's all in moderation and eating at known places!
