So pissed...stupid vitamins...

Ug.  I have been taking GNC Prenatal Formula since 3 months before we actually conceived.  I take it every day (I've only missed 1 or 2 days the whole time).  My doctor approved it, said it looked great.

Felling good.

Then, for some odd reason, my husband glanced at the back and it says in really small print: "Serving size: 3 softgel capsuls"

WTF!?!?!?  I was supposed to be taking it 3x a day????

I am so pissed...mostly at myself.  I read everything, research everything, and here I thought I was doing my body a huge favor by doing everything right.

Does anyone else take theirs 3x a day?  We just had our 3D ultrasound (I'm 31 weeks and 3 days), and everything looks fine, but now I'm going to worry that I jipped him of vital nutrients... I did some math and research online, and it looks like I have been getting most of the requirements of the important stuff (Folic acid, Vitamin D, Vitamin C, etc.), but still!!!

This is a really big deal to me and I'm really pissed...especially that I missed out on the full dosage during the 1st trimester.  :( :( :(  Ug, tell me I'm not a horrible mother, lol!

3X a day seems like an awful lot. Are they the ones that are gentle on your stomach or really tiny & easy to swallow?

I'll be honest, I am NOT good at taking my pre-natals. I started out taking the Gummies since I cant take iron & towards the end of the 1st trimester, they would make me so sick (the taste most of all) that I ended up skipping them. So I asked my OB & he now has me take Flinstones + a folic acid. Even still, I have the hardest time remembering... Like Haleigh said, think about all the women who never took them at all... You & the baby will be perfectly healthy :) Also, for the 1st Tri, think about the ladies that cant keep ANYTHING down... they cannot have absorbed all the nutrients that come in the prenatal.

cheeky, i had trouble with the gummies too - they made me gag just thinking about them.  i like cvs's generic prenatal and dha supplements.  they're swallow-able, not too big and they don't taste bad!  plus they're always buy one get one free :)

I wouldnt worry too much, like the other girls said, there are women today that don't take them during pregnancy and they have perfectly fine babies.

Honestly, I've never read the side of the bottle either haha.  I'm a little late to go home and find out I should be taking more than 1 haha.

Hopefully, your diet made up for some of the vitamins and minerals that prenatal are suppose to supplement, especially folic acid.  It would even be better if you get your folic acid from your greens rather than the prenatals.  I wouldn't sweat it.  Now that you know, you can switch to one a day for convenience but i find those pills a little larger.

I'm sure your baby is just fine, especially if you've been eating well.

I'm horrible at taking pills, ESPECIALLY the horse pills that they call multivitamins.  However, I think I've found a keeper with the one I chose; it's NatureMade's Prenatal Multivitamin + DHA.  They are large, but they're a softgel, so it makes it easier to swallow, and I only have to take one a day.  I really hope that my OB approves them, because I'd hate to have to find another one.

First of all, you're NOT a horrible mother!

Second, I'm curious (and this is probably a far far reach)... but "serving size" - does that pertain to the calories in the soft gel perhaps? For instance, my soft gels have 10 calories per pill. Do the *directions* actually say to take 3 a day? You know how most bottles say "take one time per day with food" or something similar... like the other ladies said, 3 times a day seems like a lot!

Don't panic, I'm sure everything is absolutely fine. :)

@dorkmeetsnerd--yes, I have been eating really well.  I have been super blessed to not have any morning sickness, so I eat lots of foods rich in folic acid and healthy foods in general.

Thanks for your input ladies...I'm less stressed about it now than I was earlier today, especially given that I lead a healthy, active lifestyle...but it still stinks to think you are doing something you actually aren't!  LOL.
