Still Alice

Have you read this book?

I'm ~150 pages in and WOW.  Being in the place of life I am - newly married, wanting children one day, wanting to still be married to DH when we're old, etc - it is so gripping.  How a whole family has to cope, and how the mother/wife is trying to come to terms with it.  Oh, and did I mention I started this book on Monday and I'm already half way through?!

Is it depressing?  I'm looking for upbeat books for the new start of the year!

Depends what you consider depressing. :). And I seriously mean that. At times I welled up with tears (but didn't cry) because it was heartbreaking what was happening to her and her family, but I'd also tear up at the love, forgiveness, and bonds this family had and developed. I'd say overall its a sad story that brings a family closer together and to me that isn't depressing.
