Wedding Planner

Hi Ladies,

I just joined this board as well.  We confirmed our date on yesterday to be September 1, 2013.  We just put a deposit on our venue and Ive just been trying to put together a timeline of when to start getting on top of looking and reserving certain things.

When it comes to hiring a wedding planner:

-Are you hiring a planner?

-If so, how far in advance do you book a planner?

Thanks

I'm planning to hire a DOC for set up.  I'm planning to start looking to book one about a year in advance.

Thanks Silverstar, that makes sense.  Im debating whether I should look into getting one or not since my wedding will be kind of small, hopefully only 80 people.

I've got a smaller group as well!  I think we're expecting 90ish people.  Since we're on a budget and most of our stuff is DIY a DOC is the best choice for us.  Saves us the most money, but saves me from going crazy on my wedding day.  =)

I was thinking of having a DOC but I'm just not sure it's worth it.

What is a DOC?  I'm sorry there are just so many terms I'm unaware of.  I would love to hire a wedding planner but again not sure my budget will allow for it and I'm not sure what the cost runs.  It would make me feel so much better to have one though.

A DOC is a Day of Coordinator so not a full out wedding planner, just someone who will be hired to ensure that everything runs smoothly the day of the wedding: they might help with the rehearsal dinner, set up centerpieces and decor at the wedding, handle final payments of vendor, address any emergencies, etc.

Thank you for letting me know that.  It was driving me crazy not to know what that meant :)  So is a DOC less expensive than a wedding planner?  I might have to make room in my budget for a wedding planner.  I think it would be wise being that I am already feeling overwhelmed and I just started...lol Does anyone have an idea of what they run?

Thanks,

Nichole
