New to the group!

Hello everyone!

FI and I are currently living in Texas, but we are trying to plan a Colorado destination wedding, and we're going to move to CO after we're married! My main complaint around the Dallas/Fort Worth area is we haven't been able to find a nice ceremony/reception venue that is within our budget (looking to spend $6k for everything).
I found the Marry Me in Colorado wedding service, and it seems like a great deal!  Just a little under $2K for SO MUCH!  Here is their website-we're looking at the Aspen package!

http://www.marrymeincolorado.com/Elopement%20Package.htm

Love the idea of getting married near Sprague Lake in the Rocky Mountain National Park is Estes Park, but this is where I need your help!

Seeing as both FI, myself and our immediate families are in Texas, we have to consider accomodations and a reception site.  We can pay for the ceremony costs, and our parents said they could divide up the cost of the dinner/reception (we're planning for about 40-50 guests).

I'm okay with cutting my guest list down to almost nothing if it means getting married in the mountains with those beautiful views!

Any suggestions?

Oh yay!! Welcome to the group.

I have never heard or seen the services you mentioned but there are beautiful affordable places for you to get married by Estes Park. I only live 30 mins away from there so I have been to a lot of wedding up in the mountains.

You should try looking at Black Canyon Inn, Della Terra and Stone Mountain Lodge.

All those places have affordable accomedations for guests and to be honest, I love staying in thos elittle cabins up in the mountains. There are so many different activites for your guests in Estes Park so you wouldn't have to worry about finding things for them to do.

Def check out Dellta Terra. It's so gorgeous a couple of my friends had a winter wedding up there ..so beautiful.

Aspen is VERY up in the mountains and you have to make sure your guests are willing to pay extra for air flight and car services. Aspen is also very expensive so your looking at expensive dinners and hotels for guests. Estes Park is also 45 - 1 hour away from Denver and other great cities (Boulder, Fort Collins, DTD)

Let me know if you need any help with finding cheap DJ, Florist that work with low budgets and quality work.

Good luck!!

Welcome hun!!  I love Sprague Lake, such a gorgeous view :)  I agree Della Terra is an amazing venue, but it's pricey so that may be an issue!  I photographed a wedding in July at Aspen Lodge in Estes & it was nice & not expensive.  Also check into Lionscrest Manor.  It's not as far into the mountains but it's a lovely venue where a lot of my friends have gotten married & I know they have off-season rates & weekday rates that are super reduced!  Check out my bio too!  My reception venue was only $500 + $2/chair.  You would have to find a nearby reception venue, but there are definitely some options.  PM me if you need any help :)

Thanks girls!  plumcrush01, was that $500 for rental only or did that include food?  That's been a huge issue: feeding people for less than $20/person!

Oops...sorry about that!! I meant to put the ceremony venue was $500 + $2/chair. My reception venue rental fee was $3300. My apologies!! There are a lot of reception posibilites near my ceremony venue though...it would be worth looking in to :)

Hello again everyone!

It seems like a Colorado wedding wasn't meant to be for us.  I'm really sad about it too!  Our family flying out of state were all for a destination wedding (cause they were flying anyways!), but our immediate families could not afford a trip AND a wedding.  So we ended up finding a place in our hometown that was surprisingly affordable.

We are going to honeymoon in Colorado...so who has suggestions for me?!  :D

What time of year will you HM...immediately after your wedding? Aspen, Vail, Telluride are great options. I personally love the hot springs and so Steamboat Springs and Glenwood Springs are good choices for that. Luckysbride's venue in Estes Park looks like an awesome place to stay, but I have never been there. It's called Della Terra: http://www.dellaterramountainchateau.com/suites/Luxury-Suites.php
