Asking BMs to be BMs

Hello!  In the last few years I have been to more weddings and have even been in a few myself.  One thing I noticed in those weddings, for the most part, is a buy all attitude.  I don't want to spend 10k on my wedding and some of those girls/guys are going to apart of the wedding party.

I was looking for a way to show the DIY part of the job I will want them to help contribute to.  Suddenly, a BM is a big choice but I want to be sure they know that the instant I ask.  No smooth rides, but a bit of work.

It took me a little while to come up with something and I still have a few weeks before I hand them out but I got excited, and did them early.  I just wanted to share what I came up with.

I wanted something unique that would share the idea and passion for DIY in a really cool way.

What I did:

1:  Blow out eggs, I do this often enough for Easter projects I had some tools so only had to create 1 hole.  wash egg well and dry.

2: Get parchment paper.  Why? idk, I really like parchment paper.

find a poem, if you want, and print it out very small but make sure it is still readable.  I chose:

"It’s hard for me to believe
that in just a little while,
Nate and I will be
walking down the aisle.

And nothing would give me
more joy & pride,
than to have you
right there by my side."

and on a separate piece I printed:

"Sarah, will you be my bridesmaid?"

Cut these out very close to the words and roll them very very tight.  Place inside egg, make sure to mark whose egg is whose.

3:  Sealing the hole.  I found a small piece of tape and then dipped in wax works well but be warned, some paints will not stick well to the wax.

4: paint!  I wanted to create a dusk to evening sky scene with some pretty clouds in the background.  I found the bird design online, one side I drew two birds flapping in the heart shape, and the other side they flapped the opposite.  I thought it was very cute and it fit our love bird theme to a pin.

Making the boxes.  I did it the hard way with a bit of trial and error. Look online, I'm sure someone has a template.  Each box will take a 8 X 11 sheet of paper.

This was a fun project and took me a few hours a day for 2 days to complete it.  Best of all, I had all the items needed to make these, and I didn't even have to buy the eggs.  My chickens supplied them.  A fun project, free.  That is my true theme.

I aim to have a $4k or less wedding.  With 100 people and a $2500 venue, this is going to take a lot of work.  I'll keep you up dated.

And yes, each egg must be cracked open to receive the message.  Thanks for looking!

All I could think of when I saw this is:

Being a bridesmaid is not all what its cracked up to be

But seriously I was MOH in one wedding and the other BM's did not even offer to help pay or do anything. That shower was 3k
