Here's the dress (Pics)

We got a replica of a Maggie Sottero Monalisa Royale. Overall it's a good dress. The appliques on the skirt are a mess and I'll end up replacing them with satin roses. It was packaged in the tiniest bag and very wrinkled. I have a steamer so I steamed most of the wrinkles out. There are a few spots of dirt, so I'll be getting it dry cleaned. It doesn't have the crystals on it like the real Maggie does, but for $190 vs $1090, I couldn't expect that. The dress smelled very much like chemicals.I'll be putting more crystals on the dress. I bought this dress as a surprise for my FSIL. She fell in love with the Maggie dress, but couldn't afford the price tag. If she doesn't like the dress I guess I'll just have to sell it.

Right out of the bag and very wrinkled.

Yes, I tried on my FSIL's dress... bad! bad! I know. We just so happen to be the same size. :-)

Long story short, I'm pleased with the purchase. It was a good bargain!

I'm surprising her with it tonight. I'll take a close-up and post it later. The appliques aren't tacked onto the dress all the way around. They're only tacked in the middle, so the corners flip up. The original Maggie doesn't even have appliques. It has crystals.

nikolai - when I was asking them about my dress (i haven't ordered it yet), they also mentioned "applique".  does your FSIL's dress have reimbroidered lace on it which they put sequins/beading on it?  or by applique do you mean just beading?  I'd love to see the close up of the appliques.

My FSIL didn't like the dress :-( She said it'll be a good back up dress if she can't find "the one."

I get can't get a good up close shot because my camera isn't good. The appliques are on the gathers on the skirt. The applique is a piece of lining fabric that has been embroidered and beaded and then stitched only in the middle of the applique, so they pop up all over. It looks pretty bad. I am going to remove them and replace them.

Here's a close up of the original maggie--- It has crystals and embroidery and not appliques.

I found the dress on their site. Next time I order, I'll get really detailed inspiration pics so they can do it just like the real dress. I realize that they may have not known what exactly the details were because I didn't specify.

@Pebbles- It came with a lot of crinoline, actually. That was one detail I was really pleased with.

The boning is okay, not spectacular. The breast area fits weird because there is absolutely no boning in this area.

there's no boning in the breast area on mine either. My seamstress friend said that's normal and a good thing. When I'm wearing a good bra, the dress fits absolutely perfectly around there. Way better than anything I tried on in the stores.

There was good boning in the dress I ordered from them. Though I also felt that the bust fit weird. It felt like it was up high and protruded out rather far. Interesting that your seamstress said that was good thing, Steph. I thought it my case it was because I order the dress in the wrong size and I just needed to have it fitted.

I ordered my reception dress from them.  It hasn't arrived yet, but based on the pic's they sent. They appeared to have done a good job.  I think your's looks nice as well.  To bad she didn't like it.
