Horrible day again for my city :( My dress came though(pics)

Please hold Christchurch in your thoughts and prayers today.

We had ANOTHER two large earthquakes today, they caused widespread damage and injuries but no deaths reported so far.

We were stuck in the city for 3 hours and some of my partners collegues left it too late to get out and are now stuck in the building they were in as the liquifaction came up so high that they are unable to get out, they will need to be rescued from the top story out of the window (god knows how)  and we had a close call at a bridge where the road came away and fell into the water below us..we just made it and luckily there was nobody behind us! (it was the scariest moment i've experienced as i really thought we were going to fall into the water! We are shaken, our house which is just outside of the city is okay. We have power (obviously) water, and surage, the internet is working fine but the phone lines and cell phone lines are sometimes working sometimes not.

On a good note, my dress arrived this morning before the earthquakes!! It came to mums house and i've been hanging out here since I got back to my home side of town so when FI went to check on his mother (its too dangerous for me and DD to go over there) I tried on my dress with mum.

The result is....I LOVE it! It fits almost perfectly and the beading is WAY better than I expected! there are some little bits that sit funny but we will get them fixed up. So yeah there is a little bit of work to be done on it but it is still AMAZING! I love it, I love it, I love it and its such a good high after such a devistating day :)

here are some pics...(let me know what you think)

I feel bad being so happy about my dress at this time...I cant help it though!!

BTW it DOES smell reallly nasty but i'm confident i can fix that!

This was the inspiration photo 2992155-1

This was the inspiration dress btw

The only other thing is that I would like to make the dress puff out more at the bottom like it does in the photo...not sure how I am going to make it do that...

Still love it though :)

All you need is to buy a crinoline and wear under the dress.

Wear that and lets see pictures of how it comes out.. Sorry about your town.

Sorry to hear about the earthquakes and my thoughts are with the people in your town..

Your dress looks very nice. Can't see the beading, but I know they did nice work on mine so yours will probably also be wonderfull :) I think I agree with dabee. Try putting on a crinoline under your dress, it will make it more puffy. Can't wait to see the pictures with a more puffy look!

Okay when the shops open again I will take my dress shopping and look for a crinoline, I was told my dressilyme that I would not be able to wear one under the dress when I bought it and they told me that the dress would have enough netting to make it puff out like that, but I had my doubts that it would....

Damn I'm so annoyed, I had two appointments today...one to buy my shoes another to get my flowergirl dress looked at to fix it up :) (which I could have brought my dress along to also).

Thanks for your thoughts :D

Just had an awful time at the dry cleaners, he told me that the smell would most likely not come away :( and he also showed me how well set in the creases are in the material from shipping it. He said he is going to have a really good go at getting them out but he has no garentees :( I'm really sad and dissapointed, he said if it were me that he would just cut my losses that the dress is no good. /Sigh too much stress to deal with right now :(

I'm so sorry to hear about the earthquakes and the problems related to that. It truly is such a devastating catastrophe. My thoughts and prayers are with you and all affected by the terrible disaster.

On a lighter note - you look beautiful!

I'm not sure what the material is, I can ask for you. I don't think it is real taffeta it seems a bit more course perhaps but it is still lovely...I mean the material is not the same as the origonal obviously but it is still great.

Update: I have had the dress at the dry cleaners, the smell has pretty much come out (yus!!!) and will deffinately be completely gone or close to it by December! The creases are ever so lightly still there (according to the dry cleaner) but I looked so hard for them and couldn't see them. So I'm really really happy!! I can't wait to get it back :D yay!
