My cat attacked me!

I have two cats, and my apartment is like the community catnip house...all the neighborhood kitties like to come "play" on our patio or come in our doors. I don't let them in of course, and I try to shoo them away, but they come and try anyway. My husband is going to put up fencing around the patio (there's a six inch gap at the bottom of the walls for drainage, perfect size for cats to slither under) but that's not going to solve our latest problem.

My cat was sitting on my desk, which is in front of our window. My neighbor's cat got up on his hind legs to look in the window, I don't think he's ever done that before. Well my cat (who actually really likes the neighbor's cat) FREAKED out I think because he was so close to her so suddenly and started hissing and yowling and attacking the window. I grabbed her to take her out of the room and my other cat went BERSERK.

I have one struggling yowling kitty in my arms, and the other starts viciously attacked my legs, biting me, latching on, scratching, the whole nine yards. I finally just put the one in the bathroom and shut the door to get her away from the other cat, who is still attached to my legs. I finally get her off and am trying to *get away* from her, and she attacks me AGAIN!!! I had to go in the bedroom and shut the door, and she was still scratching and pounding at the door. WTH??

So they've both calmed down and had some food, but how the heck am I supposed to prevent this cat from being a peeping tom and the other two from flipping their sh*t?? I already shut the blinds, but that didn't do anything since my cat is in the window again trying to see out.

Oh goodness! I'm not sure why she did that, and don't really have any new options for you to try. :( I think the fence might help, and keeping the blinds closed there for awhile might help them get over the shock of that. Sorry to hear about the kitties being upset :(
