Kitchen Storage Solutions

Hi Ladies,

I love my apartment to pieces, but the kitchen cabinets and drawers are slim (to none).

Did anyone have a problem storing all their kitchen items?

Does anyone have any kitchen storage ideas or solutions to help? We don't have a ton of canned goods (we don't eat it really) but we have plenty of boxes, and tons of dishes, pots and appliances.

Thanks for the ideas

You can hang a pot rack from the ceiling. Or you can go a la Julia Childs and install a pegboard and display all your pots and pans. And def check www.containerstore.com for more gadget ideas.

We had a laundry room right off our small galley kitchen, so we just stored stuff on those shelves (larger appliances that we didn't use very often, boxes of wedding gifts) and then we just kept a lot in boxes in the dining room.  But this was a short term fix since we were moving anyways :/  We made sure to just use every corner, including below the sink, oven, above all the cabinets (tried to put the pretty things on top since you could see them)

My FI and I have the same problem. We started hanging things and putting things on top of the fridge. Also, we took a serious inventory of what we use and don't and got rid of what we didn't use in the last year.

Do you have space to add a shelving unit. I love the steel shelving you see in many kitchens. Your dishes would be on display with this option.

I had space for a buffet, so I bought one of those and all my "extras" are in there, party platters, and the frapp maker and things I'm not using on a daily basis.

I bought dish shelves from BBB, they enable you to stack different sized plates in the same area, so my smaller plates are above my dinner plates, bowls can be stacked higher, etc.

We also installed stemware racks in the cabinet, so the wine glasses can hang, and I have room underneath for mugs still. My neighbor (with the same cabinet layout) installed hooks under the cabinets to hang mugs, so she doesn't need to use shelf space.

I've also invested in baskets, containers, etc to organize all the spaces with "gadget" type things in them. Not only are things easier to find, but it allows me to pack things in tighter than usual.
