Laundry Room Assistance Please!

Here are some crappy photo 3205429-1

Here are some crappy photo 3205429-3

First off, I had the curtain custom made & love it, but DH doesn't seem that sure :/  I understand there is a lot going on with the countertop & the curtain, but they do both have chocolate brown in them (as well as the floor...and this is only the laundry room for gosh sakes!).  Do I need to get a different/solid/(boring LOL) curtain?

If you think the one I had made works, what color paint should I put on the walls?  I was kinda thinking light yellow since the tile has a yellowish hue to me & there is obviously yellow in the fabric, but IDK?!  Or maybe chocolate brown walls?!  Or a light aqua?

Also, we have open white shelves up in the laundry room & I was wanting to get baskets to hide all the crap.  What color?  I am going with these baskets (even though they say they are for kids, I don't care)  http://www.landofnod.com/kids-shelf-storage/kids-storage-and-shelving/strapping-cube-bin/f670

Lastly, DH said I could finally get a new washer & dryer for X-mas, and I am leaning towards a silver/gray/stainless set.  Do you think that will totally clash with the browns going on?!  I would go with white, but def leaning towards the silver.

Sorry that was a lot!

Is this a room that a lot of people walk past, or is it a room that only you and your DH see?

Brown what...wall color, baskets, or fabric?

It's upstairs so very few people walk past it...

How about pulling that blue of of that fabric.  I love that color in the fabric.  Paint the walls a lighter blue since the floors are darker and then accent the baskets with the brown?

Or... a lighter tan on the walls like this and get the blue or dark brown baskets.  I think this is pretty.

I'd go with neutral walls and colorful baskets... I'm thinking that pretty purple-y color or the teal would be best!! :)

I say stay with the fabric you have now (love it!) and go with the a light brown wall with bright baskets to match the fabric.

Thanks Becca!

IDK, I got paint samples this weekend and I am really leaning towards a very, very pale aqua/icey blue and brown baskets.  I appreciate any more feedback though :/

I like the idea of a lighter pale aqua color.  Brown/beige might be too 'blah'... and if you go darker it can really cramp the space.

Thanks ladies.

Kat, I agree.  I was thinking beige/tan was just going to be too blah.  Plus, when I picture a silver washer/dryer against a beige/tan wall I don't love that, but think it could look really nice against light aqua (kinda like this color combo, only lighter).

Just saw this thread, and was going to suggest a light/aqua blue for the walls before I saw you already purchased it. I think it will look great!!
