*Masculine* Window Treatments

I keep forgetting to take pics to include in this post, so here we go :)

I'm moving on to our office.  It's a shared space, but DH spends more time in there than I do (thanks to the pimpin' computer he built).  Anyhoo, it is painted Waterfall (aka "Tiffany" blue).  For furniture we have a chocolate brown leather chaise, and a dark brown computer desk that is attached to a matching bookcase.

I'm in the process of doing our "places we've been" map art, and looking into some other wall art ideas.  I want to put a simple valance on the window, I think, because I really don't want to do drapes in this room but I want to add something else visually to the window wall.  We have the same Hunter Douglas blinds in this room that every other window has.

I've been reading online, do you think masculine window treaments are:

a) no window treatment

b) architectural inspired

c) who cares

I'm *considering* these fabrics.  I think #3 is hands down the most masculine, but am concerned about the sharp/crisp black with brown furniture in the room, and I'm unsure of such a "blue" blue.  Whereas, for some reason I think gray could work better with the brown furniture.  Thoughts?

I think masculine is more of a bold solid, stripe or geometric pattern (like you posted in #3 above) or nothing at all. :)  I vote for using something because it adds a little extra visual interest to the room. :)

I like #3, too! We mix black and brown a lot throughout the house. Mostly for reasons like this -- there might be an accessory or piece of furniture we like, but it will have the wrong color legs or the fabric doesn't match the dark wood.

I also need to take some pics of our house! It is a very humble little house, but pictures always help in these discussions!

For me, masculine = architectural inspired, bold lines and such.

To me, I like #3!! I think it would work well in the room, especially since it's not large panels of curtains. If you wanted larger panels, I would go with something else. But, in this case, I would go with #3! :)
