wall ideas

I am trying to pick out colors for our new house.  I found this on a website.  What do you girls think?  Do you like the color?  I am thinking about doing this whole set up walking down our stairs in our house.

I love espresso and other coffee colors. I think it's really elegant with crisp white baseboards, etc. It looks great with the unified frames (simple, black, etc.)!

The color is called Metallic Bronze.  I just wonder what the metallic will do on a wall.  Does anyone know?  I really like it with the black frames also.

Hmm, now that I'm looking at it from my phone and not my laptop, I can see that it's not espresso. I actually really like it, but I also would be a little hesitant about painting with a metallic. Some paint companies let you take him a small sample for just a couple bucks. Maybe you could get that and just try it in a section of one well-lit wall. I think it could be really lovely!

I think it looks really rich and nice!  As long as the area isn't too small/closed in to begin with.  Dark colors in small areas always make it feel smaller, however if it's a larger open area painting it darker can give a the space a more cozy feeling. :)  And I also agree with FCTF about making sure your baseboards are white and carpet is on the lighter side for it to have some contrast.

I hunted a little online and was able to find a closer pic of a metallic bronze paint... It has a pretty almost pearlescent sheen to it, but if it's not your thing I'm sure you could find something a little less shiny in an eggshell or semi-gloss. :)

Actually it is an open area.  I am going to try to get a small sample DUH!  Why didn't I think of that.  LOL

There is alot of shine to it and I'm a little leary of that.

Thanks girls!

I just read that metallic paint is awful to paint and when i went to Home Depot to get it they don't even sell Ralph Lauren paint anymore. So I need to find something comparable to this color now.

I saw some metallics by Martha Stewart at Home Depot, so maybe try a sample from there?  Just an FYI though, we just used one of her eggshell paints in our Master and it didn't cover as well as the Behr eggshell paint we got for my daughter's room.  It was necessary to do 2 full coats on every wall, with the Behr we did one coat and had to go over all the spots again with the roller.  We did use the better roller with the Behr paint, so maybe that was part of the issue.... but I figured I'd tell ya anyway. :)

Thanks Allie!  I will check it out.  I've never used Martha Stewart paint before.  After everything I've read I'm afraid now to use a metallic paint, although I was reading on Ralph Lauren's metallic paint.  It sounds like it doesn't go on very well and needs lots of coats.

I love that idea!  I want to get a vinyl wall decoration for our house.  I am in love with the wall color too.  Definitely saving this thread.  : )
