Any big plans this year?

Anyone have exciting "just you and DH" plans for the upcoming year? We don't have much planned unfortunately (tight budget), except sleeping late on weekends, training to be a runner (me) and enjoying the little things like wine and the occasional chocolate truffle!

Not really. Well, unless you count the wedding. Which I guess is "big."

Well, for all of us from the Mrs-Club we don't have weddings to look forward to anymore (if we did, we wouldn't need much else) ;)

We're considering doing some house-hunting over the next few months, and at the very least will be re-writing our mortgage.

I'm hoping to do up some photo and/or scrapbooks with our wedding photos once I finish working on the post-processing. And I'm still working on a large cross-stitch project that was bought many years ago to be a WEDDING GIFT for my hubby...now it might be an anniversary gift...in a few years... lol!

Cross stitch scares me. So does knitting, crochet, and the sort. What kind of project is it?

House hunting is fun! I bought a place last year, and it was great. The market is awesome for a buyer right now, too. Just uh... avoid getting a mortgage with Chase if you can.

We are house-hunting as well. We are also getting back to normal after the wedding, still trying to figure out where to put some stuff.  We will also be taking our honeymoon this year also (can't wait for that).

Cross stitch?  AWESOME!!!  I love doing that!!! I'm actually creating something to sell as a fundraiser for my Relay For Life team.  I would love to see some of what you have done.

We have been talking about going to Washington DC for a few days and then down to GA to see family that we haven't seen in a while.  Not sure yet.  It's hard to decide...lol.

Our anniversary :)

And one year anniversary photo shoot :)

On our anniversary we will do a photoshoot and probably just relax.  (It's a Sunday)

I plan on taking that following Monday off and head to the Morton Arboretum.

DH has never been and it's so inexpensive and GORGEOUS, I figured it's perfect!  Ending with dinner at Pinstripes perhaps?

Also, a friend is getting married in NH... DH and I plan to save up and head out that way and do a "long weekend" and head to Maine! :)  It's one of the top states I always wanted to visit :)

DH wants to change jobs... he's been trying to pass the EMT certification exam. If he can do that, then he wants to apply to be a firefighter. So that would be a major change. If he can't pass the test in time for the firefighter applications, then he'll still be looking for a different job than what he has now.

Oooh, so much going on in 2011! Minus my own wedding that I still refuse to acknowledge. :) *delusional smile*

Oh, I had a job interview Tuesday!! Y'all are the only ones that know, even on Pdub! There's some complications behind it, but I'm hoping for the best! It ended up lasting almost an hour and a half. That has to be a good sign, right?

LadyHope/Miss S- (Miss S sounds dumb, we'll scratch that as a nickname.) How have the tests been going for your DH?

He passed the practical portion of his exam with flying colors back in... May, I think? Right after he got done taking the class. He has failed the written exam twice. :( He can take it once more before he'd have to take a 12-hour refresher course, then if he failed again he'd have to start all over taking the class again. He has never been good at tests--I don't know if it's test anxiety or what, exactly. So now he's really discouraged on top of not testing well, which doesn't exactly help.

We found a couple of books to help him study while we were on our honeymoon... one is essentially flashcards in book form (question on one side of the page, answer on the other), and the other has 4 practice tests. I'm trying to take a more active role in helping him study--I want to try reading questions out loud and having him answer, since hearing/speaking uses a different part of the brain and might help him to remember better.

1.5 hour interviews are a good sign! I don't know what field you are in or anything, but I wish you luck. :)

Practice exams are a huge help! When I took my EIT/FE (8 hour engineering exam) I did practice exams like it was my job. Literally, I did them at work between projects. But it'll help give him confidence in his ability, and have that whole "oh, I've done this before" feel to it. At least, in theory.

I hate big tests. It reminds me of this quote from "shi*t my dad says."

"Oh taking the SAT: It's just a test. If you screw up, it doesn't mean you're a screwp up. That said, don't screw this up. It's pretty important."
