Baby K'Tan vs Moby or other suggestions

I need all your wonderful mamas' opinions! We do a gift exchange for Christmas each year in our family and I have my SIL who is the new mommy to my beautiful niece. Niecey Love is 3 months old (as of yesterday). Our dollar limit for gifts is $50. She said she either wants clothes or something to strap/"wear" the baby, so what I found in that price range that had the most/best reviews was the Moby and Baby K'Tan. It seems the K'Tan is easier to put on from what I've read? In your experience, which would you reccommend and will grow with the baby the best... or is there something different you think is better? Thanks for the suggestions, ladies! :) I appreciate the help!

I heard that the moby wrap gets super, duper hot during the summer. I have heard and read many complaints about that. This is the main reason as to why I did not get one (I live in Florida on top of all that lol).

Hi there, most of us are now on the 2013 baby bumps group.  You might get more input there.

But to add a bit more to the question, note that the moby is a one size fits all carrier whereas the K'tan, comes in different sizes.  The size of the adult, that is.  So if the mom is petite but the dad is big, they both cannot use the same K'tan.  But yes, Olga is right, the Moby can get hot for some.

The k'tan and moby are both stretchy wraps - I wore my daughter a ton and never found them to be any warmer than wearing a thick t-shirt and wearing a baby is just warm because they are little heaters... I was in southern California and it was fine. But most stretchy wraps aren't recommended past the first couple of months. I think they list the weight limit at 30 pounds but I was never comfortable wearing my daughter past 15 or 20 lbs and I stopped using stretchy wraps sometime around 4 months. So I just wouldn't recommend either based on your niece's age- your SIL wouldn't get much use out of it. I used more ergo basically every day after that and still continue to use it and my daughter is 2 years old. I know they are more expensive but maybe you could get her a gift card to a baby boutique or toys r us or amazon or something to put towards it. I also loved my woven wrap but that was also more expensive and are sized.
