Antral Follicle Count

Hi ladies-  Just wondering what your follicle counts have been.  I just had my first CD3 U/S and bloodwork and he counted 15 on the right and 12 on the left.  At first I was happy to hear this but then I get to work and I've read that above 26 isn't necessarily a good thing :/.  I won't hear from the nurse until this afternoon.

WOW - that's does seem like a lot! I can't remember the count on CD 3 - I don't think she told me, just that she was seeing growth. Not all will mature and release so I don't think you need to worry yet. But yes, too many is not a good thing as the chance of multiple would be too high. Wait untl the nurse calls and see what she says. They may adjust your meds. You will know more during your next u/s - at my CD10 u/s I had 1 on my left (18mm) that was larger and 2 14(mm) smaller ones on my right - and we were only counting on the large one to do the job!

This is unmedicated and I'll be 35 this year.  I read that a high count could mean PCOS but this is my 3rd U/S and bloodwork and there hasn't been any mention of PCOS.  I also read that a high count could mean decreased egg quality but then another site said 15-30 was great so I have no idea...my nurse should be calling soon hopefully.

Oh, I thought they could tell if you had good quality eggs :/ I feel like I'm in a whirlwind...so much to remember.  You're right about google...I'm so worked up about the HSG...wish I hadn't googled it ;)

I'm still getting used to the TV U/S and still find them to be uncomfortable but I'm sure it will get better. I was especially nervous about today since it was CD3 and one of the other Drs. I have never met performed it so I didn't ask any questions...they are so fast and in and out of the room super fast.  I'll ask my nurse when she calls me.

Thanks :)

So, I just heard from the nurse and she said my Dr. is very happy with the follicle count, however, my estradiol level is high at 119 so they can't accurately read my FSH which is important at my age she said :/.

Now I need to go have more blood work done at labcorp to test my AMH.

I know it's not good to have elevated estradiol levels this early in my cycle. :(

Sorry for the mixed news - but they will know more after further testing is done.

T - You said it best 'fortunately... or unfortunately.' I wish I didn't know as much as I did. My mom was asking me last night about when I would know if I was pregnant and why I was on progesterone - and she was shocked to learn that you are not pregnant right away and there is still a process that needs to happen (successfully) after egg meets sperm. And when I said that sometimes you could be pregnant and then not and not even know it, I think she fell off her chair! I long for the days when I just thought - when I want to get pregnant, it will just happen :( ... it was much less stressfull! And to think I was so nervous all those years about an 'oops'!
