Metformin ladies

So I have been on 500mg's of Metformin for about 3 months now. Orginally my OBGYN placed me on 500mg's a day for a week and then wanted to increase my dosage to 1000mg's. Well I had a lot of bloating the first week so I called the dr's office and they told me to just give it time and wait for my body to adjust to the 500 before increasing. I ended up getting my period on time (I have PCOS and have never had a regular period). I never increased my dosage because my periods have been regular since.

My Dr told me it may take 3-6 months to concienve on the Metformin, if I do not concieve within the 6 months, she wants to place me on Clomid. My question is....should I even bother increasing my Metformin dosage? I dont see the point since my cycles have been regular the last three months since taking the lower dosage. What do you ladies think???

I would guess it would depend on whether you have insulin resistance and if that amount is working to lower it (I would guess that it probably is) and if it is, then I probably wouldn't worry about it?  I'm on 2000mg a day but I wasn't even having cycles at all for 17 months, so this is what I need to get my body back to working properly and get my insulin resistance down to the acceptable range.  I was at 21 when I found out about my pcos, last blood work showed me at 16 and 'normal' is under 7.  So I'm getting there.  I'm not sure what they will do once I get it back into the normal range.  I would guess that I'll probably be on it in some form for the rest of my life but maybe I'm wrong.  lol

I don't know if that answers your question or not, but I hope maybe it did!

I'm on Metformin for PCOS, but I am not TTC my cycles became regulated and the OBGYN actually lowered my dosage which made me much happier.
