How are you going to make your reception untraditional and uniquely you?
we are having a secret performance shhhhhh! i can't say... we will have to wait and see ;)
we are having a rock band coming to play and everything in the reception is different than other weddings...from decor to music ... YEY
Well, we are having a KISS themed wedding cake. There will be have untraditional music too!!
Our ceremony will have string instrumentals of songs that I like by the Vitamin String Quartet. (Played on a laptop.)
Then the rest of the reception will have various songs that we like (yeah, including metal). Non danceable ones will be during dinner and danceable ones will be during the rest of the party.
We're also having a live jazz band perform for an hour so the old folks don't leave. hahaha
As for the small details: The catering and bar staff will all wear skull and crossbone ties. My half -bro is wearing a tie with skulls and damask. I have a parasol with skulls on it. And my card box is my guitar case. I was considering displaying my guitar, but I would have a fit if someone went and signed it!
The lounge will have art books on the tables. Some are rock poster art, some have logo designs for bands, etc.
And the fact that I'm not doing any traditions (aside from the cake cutting). Doing what you want and what represents you is rock 'n roll!
Well instead of flower arrangements for centrepieces, were having a large vase like shaped light with large feathers coming out ...and most of our music will be based on rock.
We will start the processional with "For Those About to Rock" by AC/DC
Our rescessional song is "Let's Get Rocked" by Def Leppard
Before any intro's a snippet from The Blues Brothers (the speech in the Paris hotel ballroom)
Bridal party intro "Eye of the tiger" by (don't remember)
For 1 bridesmaid/groomsman we are going to play a snippet of a local lotto song (Lil bit of luck, because she is so tall and he is short and round, lol!)
We are being announced with "Psycho Circus" by Kiss
Our cake cutting song is "Pour Some Sugar on Me" by Def Leppard
DH and best man played "Baby I'm Amazed" by Paul McCartney as the toast.
I had an iced tea table............
and drank out of plastic cups with straws...
with parasols hanging from the ceiling and teapots on every table...
and a Jack White themed groom's table....
nothing fancy and plenty of iced and hot teas as well as tea party food treats and a whimsical tea themed candy table even......
NO DANCING, but we said hello and chatted with every single person... it was a happy time.
Mostly it will rock 'cuz we rock! lol Our music will definitely rock..
We have live musicians coming to play cocktail hour. They are classical musicians but they are going to play rock tunes such as Van Halen, Journey, etc. Just like the Vitamin String Quartet, but, LIVE - wooOOoo!
Bridal party is walking in to "Kashmir" by Led Zeppelin
We are walking in to the intro of "Thunder" by AC/DC
Cutting the cake to "Sweet Emotion" by Aerosmith
Bouquet toss is "Girls, Girls, Girls" by Motley Crue
It's New Year's Eve!!! woOOooo!
Our decor is kind of vintage/glam with a dark/rock & roll edge
I can't wait! :D
Well, to start our wedding will be at the House of Blues!
We have an awesome DJ who has rocked NY - LA and haS worked with Prince and was a dancer on MTV ICON show.
Our music will be fun and upbeat and unique, no sweet pretty happy lovey dovy songs.
I may have a caricaturist there as a replacement photo booth
not sure what else yet.. don't have much time to figure it out (may 22 2010!)
we're using a LOT of rock music. its what we'v always listened to and one of our fave things is going to concerts, so why wouldn't we? lol
