Ceremony Musicians

For those who are hiring musicians did you go through gigmasters? or do you have someone who you can refer?

I live in the Ventura area FYI.

I hired a baroque string duo that I found via Craigslist. They look awesome, but I can't tell you for sure how it'll go yet because the wedding isn't for another 3.5 weeks.

They were very reasonable and they are based in the Valley so it probably wouldn't be tough for them to commute up to Ventura.

What type of musicians are you looking for?  We only had a pianist (friend's mom) for our ceremony but I may be able to refer someone from vendors I know.

We are thinking of using  gigmasters.

You can search by location,so perhaps an artist performs at place where you can actually see how they entertain the crowd.

I don't have firsthand experience working with these musicians, so you may want to search for reviews, but I have heard good things about:

Harp: Vonette http://web.mac.com/vonharp/iWeb/Musical%20Networks/Welcome.html.  She also works with guitarist Bud Rizzo.

Guitar: Jason Sulkin www.jasonsulkin.com

Hope this helps!  We are located in Ventura too.  If you need any lighting to enhance the ambiance of your wedding check out my profile.

Try at the local churches.  They have awesome musicians who charge a fraction of the price.

October- We hired this harpist - http://www.yourharpist.com/ for our ceremony. He's really friendly and super nice and like $900 cheaper than the pianist we were supposed to hire through DL. We haven't met him yet but have heard great things about him from past DL brides.

(Also, we weren't looking for the typical classical music. We wanted Pop/Rock/D!sney classics so we asked him and even though he doesn't have song samples online, he has them in his repertoire so he's going to be playing that for us. We can't wait! )

we hired a harpist we found online.  she was extremely helpful since we found her last minute (met with her last saturday and our wedding is the may 22!).  she played some songs for us so we can hear what the song actually sounds like on a harp and helped us with our music selection.
