Do people talk between tables?

We're working on seating arrangements. We try to group tables who know each other together. However, doing so sometimes creates problems.

At the 3 recent weddings I've been to, I only paid attention to the people at my table even when I knew people at other tables. So I'm thinking we shouldn't sit related tables next to each other at all costs.

At weddings, do you pay much attention to tables around you?

I think it depends on the size of the wedding. I anticipate my family hopping from table to table since they don't see each other often. I table hopped a lot at our engagement party. I really hope people mingle.

I think you should still put related tables together. People will mingle and move around and stuff, but I have to say that I was glad that at Yang's wedding, all the high school friends were at 2 tables next to each other.

Also at a wedding a friend of mine went to a few weeks ago, that friend and his friend were at a table far away from all his college friends (and this was a college friend's wedding). They felt very isolated from everyone and were a little upset, especially since half of their table didn't show for the reception.

I don't really pay much attention to other tables at weddings, unless a good friend of mine is not at my table already and I might walk over to the other table after dinner to mingle.

Id say keep related tables together as much as possible...but dont kill yourselves over it...if people want to chat they will get up and move tables..that happened at the last wedding I went to...our table ended up with like 13 people sitting at it...and I believe it started with 9

I usually only talk to people at my own table, unless I know the people at the table next to me.
