hair and make-up - under $300?

Is it possible to find someone to do simple bridal hair and make-up with a trial for under $300? This item barely even made the budget since the FI doesn't seem to think it's that important. They all seem to focus on airbrush make-up, fake eyelashes, and up-dos, but I just want to look natural. Wavy hair down, held back with a headband and just enough make-up to even out my skin tone. Not like I'm going to the prom.

Maybe I waited too long, the wedding's in June.

Any recommendations?

I made a list last week and I think these will fit your criteria (under $300 incl. trial):

Something Blue Stylists

Trial (both H&M) = $100 (in their studio) or $150 (somewhere else in the OC)

Bride Wedding Day both = $150

Bridesmaids both = $100 or $50 each.

Lashes = $10 without makeup

Travel (within OC) = $25/stylist

Early AM charge b4 6AM = $50

Sarah Tava

Trial (both) = $75

Makeup only = $75

Hair and Makeup = $150

Deposit = $50 for 3 people or more

Jennifer Bullag

Bride Wedding (both) = $180 or $90 ea. incl. lashes

Bridesmaids (both) = $ 130 or $65 ea. incl. lashes

Bride Trial = $130 (both) or $65 ea. incl. lashes

If you want something simple for makeup and if it fits in your timetable, maybe you should consider going to a MAC store on the wedding day. They only charge $40 and give you a free mascara (or if it's a MAC counter, they make you buy $40 worth of product). I read a good recommendation from a girl at the Laura Mercier counter at the Nordstrom The Grove. She even came to that brides' house to do the makeup. I don't remember the name but you could ask around. Some of those gals might freelance and hook you up.

For hair, since you're just wearing it down, you could probably just do that yourself and save some money there.

Good luck! :)

yeah, it's the hair that I'm most worried about actually. I don't like the way it turned out doing it myself in my engagement photos but I think the make-up looks fine. That new Revlon foundation (Photoready) was amazing.

Brianne - Hair IS tougher. Sorry the DIY route probably won't work out. Do you have a regular stylist that can do your hair (either you go to them or they come to you?)

Honestly, paying over $100 for your hair to be down (even though it's going to be curled nice) is kind of pricey. Maybe you can practice some more and invest in hot curlers. Maybe check out hair tutorials on You Tube?

I had a friend do my hair and makeup because she is a cosmetologist.

If you dont know anybody I heard that you can buy something from a make up counter and they will do your make up for you.  Try Macy's makeup people or Mac?

If you just want naturallooking makeup then I suggest going to a Bobbi Brown counter at Nordstrom.  You can do a trial run with them and then have them do your makeup on the day of.  They don't charge for the service but you would probably need to purchase a few items.  Bobbi Brown artists are specifically trained on wedding makeup.

You could do your makeup yourself but I would do a test run and maybe look at some tutorials on Youtube.  There are several makeup artists on PW (myself included although I'm retired that may be able to give you tips.

You could try Hair Comes the Bride. http://www.haircomesthebride.com/09HairandMakeup.htm

Or do you have stylists that cuts your hair?  Could she do it for you?

Something Blue that Pixie posted looks great!

My BFF had a great hair stylist! I'm waiting for her to get back to me with her info.

Unfortunately, something blue is out of town for a wedding my weekend. I think I've actually found someone that would be $320 for me though it's only $120 per bridesmaid for hair and make-up as well. Maybe she'll give us a group discount. All but one bridesmaid responded very quickly that they were interested.

check out Lisa Leming. I wrote a review for her. And she was under 300 for both including the trial.

Okay, here is the name that I promised you.  Her name is Michele Talbot, the company is Once Upon a Time Hair Design.  She did the hair for my BFF's wedding (I did the makeup) but she does makeup, too.  She was amazing. I cannot say enough about how great she was.  I would have had her do my hair for my wedding if we had gotten married in So Cal instead of Las Vegas.

You should give her a call.  I'm sure she can work with your budget and give you the natural but polished look that you want.

She also did the hair on this page.  http://jeremylucero.blogspot.com/2010/01/more-from-oc-bride-magazine.html

I had my first make up and hair trial last Friday with Christy Im.  You can contact her at christyim@sbcglobal.net or call 213-705-1717.

She's great and easy to talk to.  Just let her know what you want.  I really like how she made me up.  Just for sharing, I'm attaching a photo my FI took as soon as I got back from the trial session.

I had my first photo 1375264-1

Rates:

Make-up + hair  -  $150

Airbrush make up + hair  -  $170

Trial make up + hair  -  $80

Where are you getting married at? I used Jessica and Kim from the Rylin Ashley salon (Still am, actually.) With two trials, and full day I'm still under $250 for both, and they are wonderful!

Susie Chhuor is doing mine - I had a great trial with her.  I think she's $299 for hair and makeup.  Definitely check her out.

Try Rubi Gil, Make Up by Rubi. I don't know if she will still be available but she is really great and really sweet. I got hair/makeup with trial and airbrush for 320. So without airbrush you would be in the ball park. Good luck!!
