Is this good photography advice?

I found this guy Chris Noble Wedding Photographer

And he has this helpful list - but I'm wondering if it's all good advice?

I think #14 should be changed. Meeting with them shouldn't be optional. It's a MUST. You have to see if you will mesh with their personality. If you clash or do not seem to be on the same page this will defiantly come out in the pictures.

Most are good. Some I'm not sure. Bear in mind these are just my opinions :)

5. I think this is a bad way to go around it. You should decide on a budget and then look for photographers around your budget, otherwise this is just going to make you go over your budget and make you want photographers that you can't afford.

17. Not totally true but it'll depend on your timeline. If you don't have time during your wedding day then maybe you need to shoot before your wedding day, but a good photographer only need 1/2 to 1 hour to produce good wedding portraits, a newer photographer might need longer time, so depending on how good your photographer is, this might apply

22. I'm not sure this is necessary, I mean if you like their work, then what's the point? It's like asking a car mechanic that you are taking to fix your car, hey, what kind of car do you prefer to drive?

28. Not sure what is the point of this question. You are paying for the final product, why do you need to know such details of it. Does it matter if they take 1 or 10 minutes to retouch your photos? Do you go ask the restaurant and ask the chef, "Hey, how long does it take for you to cook the chicken?" This is more of a sales tactic if you ask me. You ask this so they can say how you are not just paying them for the wedding day but all the hours for postprocessing that they'll have to do later on. Like I said, sales tactic. A good photographer don't really care about you knowing how long it takes for them to finish the work, as long as you like the final product the time is well spent.

29. While references are good. I often equate this to asking references during a job interview. Tell me this, who on earth would give you someone as a reference that did not like them to begin with? Do you give references in your resume of people that hate you?

Of course the references that you will get from the photographer will be good references.  A better way would be to go to review sites and check to see if they have bad reviews. For all you know the references that you got from the photographer are their fellow buddies.

51.  I've said this many times, delivery time NEEDS TO BE IN the contract!!!!! If you simply ask them they might give you a range but that doesn't bind them in anyway unless it is IN THE CONTRACT! If it is not in the contract, and then 5 months have gone by and you still don't have no pictures, there is little you can do by then.

Hope that helps.

lots of good advice, but it seems like its too much. Are you really going to go over each one of these with your photographer?  I think the most important is that you find a photographer that shoots your style (traditional, photojournalist), you also want to  feel comfortable and click with them. After finding that you should ask to see a full album instead of the best shots on their site. I hope that helps a bit. Best of luck to you and happy planning
