Marriage License

Hi,

We were married on May 8th, 2010.  Our church mailed in our marriage license to wherever they are supposed to, and that's all we know.

We haven't heard anything back, got anything in the mail....nothing.

How long did it take for you to get something back, or how did you go about getting a copy of it?

I'm clueless.

Thanks!

Did you put a check or money order to receive your copy?  We had to give our priest a self-addressed envelope and a check for the copy of the license...  I'm not sure if it's different where you live... hope that helps sweetie =)

Nope, they didn't ask for any of that..... I'm guessing it was on the form and I just didn't read it through.

Hmmmmmmmm.......I suppose I will have to request it from the government website. Pain in the butt.

Thanks!

If you were married in Los Angeles County you'll need to get a copy of the recorded license. I don't know if you can still do it simply by mail, you may need to go to a County Recorder's office to get a copy. In order to get it by mail originally you needed to send a $14 check with your signed marriage license as well as a notarized sheet confirming you are who you say you are. Since I knew I needed to get the sheet notarized, I just held onto the marriage license and sent it in myself after a trip to the UPS store.

Sorry they didn't give you all the information up front. I managed to get our certificate just ten days after I mailed it in.

go on the county website where the license was sent....find your record number, then order your certified copies...it should only take like 3 weeks for them to officially record it...that's what i did....

Thanks ladies!  Jackie, I was able to order it online.  Have to go to the notary, but whatever. Thanks for leading me in the right direction!
