I need some advice please!!

So... I'm pretty sure I'm getting my period... which is a giant bummer because we only have 2 cycles left after this of TTC and that will make a year.... :'( I'm trying VERY hard to stay optimistic... but I need some help!! :)

For anyone reading this thread (previous mommas, expecting mommas, us TTC-ers), I would love some input (especially the previous mommas and currently expecting) of what do you think I can do differently to increase my chances of TTC the next two rounds??

Here is what I'm doing currently:

  • Cut out 90% of caffeine (I'm talking maybe a coffee or soda once a week... if that, when I used to have one a day)

  • Prenatals & B-6 to lengthen my LP

  • Water water and more water

  • Diet - 90% healthy foods (again, once in awhile I'll give myself a treat)

  • Exercise - Exercising 4-6 times a week (hoping the diet and exercise will help me lose some weight which I think will help as well).

  • Temping and OPKing

  • Using Preseed as necessary

  • This last cycle I used a castor oil pack every few days (when I remembered) and a fertility massage.

If anyone has any input/thoughts that would be great!!! I am going out of my mind that it still hasn't happened yet (I understand others it has taken longer, so please don't think I'm complaining, I just need advice) and I need some thoughts/feedback on what I could be doing wrong and what else might help :)

Thank you!

I'm confident I'm ovulating every month... because I'm temping not just OPKing and I see the confirmed spike in temps on my chart. And I am going to wait the full year before we go in.

What is pregnitude?? I've never heard of it before?? Have you tried it?? And if so, do you like it?? Thank you for confirming that everything else seems good :)

FX that this is your month too!!

Pregnitude is a reproductive support dietary supplement for women that helps support ovulatory function, menstrual cyclicity and quality of eggs.*

Pregnitude contains 2000mg of myo-inositol, as well as 200mcg of folic acid.

Folic Acid is a B vitamin that promotes cell growth.

Myo-inositol is a naturally occurring substance produced by the human body from glucose. It belongs to the vitamin B complex group.

Yes I tried it and I did like it.

So Sorry Kristen.

I'm on the same boat. I'm taking my prenatal, folic acid, having lots of husband/wife moments (every other day) I'm charting my temp--doing it everyday for a week on the week of ovulation. I'm even takin some Chaste Tree Berry tea..AND Still nothing. I'm losing hope. :'(

Soooo frustrating everyone is getting pregnant but me, a girl who started TTC after I did got preggo right away....But at least my husband is still on board and being a trooper. :)

@June- thank you dear, I may need to get some ;)

@Claire - thank you hon :) My LP is around 10-15 days... most cycles it's 10-12. I O late (like CD 16-21) but my cycles are anywhere from 29-34 days.

@PSA - I'm with you dear!! Two of my close friends are pregnant, one tried for 3 months and another for 10 months.... and it's hard to be around them but I support them 100%... but it is still hard. You hang in there!! I'm here for you if you need to talk since we are in the same boat. Keep your head up!!

Hey Kristen,

So sorry I am on cycle #1 but I can already see how frustrating this can be and the toll it can take on our daily living. Is there a reason why you are waiting the full year to go to the doctor, I know that it takes the average, healthy couple 6 months to a year to conceive but me personally I have scheduled an appt for Monday because for my sake it will give me some peace of mind to know that everything is functioning as it is suppose to, though my pap and yearly exams have all been well.

Is your husband taking any vitamins to improve his swimmers? Also how is his diet, alcohol, smokes, exercises, etc etc.

I started drinking this vegatable compound that they make in the dominican repbulic, it's all natural, its call "senora muller" and I know so many women that swear by it, look it up and see if it's something you might want to try, it serves as a cleanser for your body.

Hope this helps, I will be praying for a sticky bean for you! :)

Yeah, I'm already itching to go to the Doctor too. She told me to go see her after 6 months of trying if I didnt have any luck, I'm in my early 30's I dont have time to waste.

There maybe something wrong with me or lack of vitamins my bod might not be getting...no sense in wasting precious time.

I have tip / trick. It worked for me and several ladies I know.
Basically you climax AFTER your DH has climaxed, I'm talking like within a minute or 2. By doing that it sling shots the swimmers to your egg. It can be kind tricky to do though so timing is everything.

I did this and was pregnant with my son and it was the only time we DTD before that we had tried unsuccessful for 6 months. I hope this helps and sending buckets of baby dust!

Thank you lovelies!! :) It is officially a BFN This cycle, but I'm keeping my head up :)

I'm waiting a full year to start testing per my Gyn. I went in for my regular PAP in March and told her that we were trying. Since I'm only 24, healthy (just a little overweight is all), my paps are normal and my DH Is healthy she told me to wait the full year.

@Jennifer - that is good to know! I will definitely try that this next cycle and see if that's what I needed :)

@Murph - I will put DH back on his multivitamin ;) but he is very healthy, more than me! He's not overweight or underweight, he is wearing boxers lately for me instead of his boxer briefs.... this may be TMI but maybe we will start DTD in the morning... during my O week we always DTD at night, maybe that will make a difference as well?

Has anyone tried acupuncture?? i would love to try natural ways to get pregnant before going and getting tests done. I understand it's better to know now rather than later; however I want to wait until the last possible time before getting a bunch of tests run on me.

Aww, I can't believe it's been almost a year for you Kristen. I dont't have any more advice to add. The other ladies have pretty much covered it, and you're already doing so much right and trying so hard. Good luck in the next two months--you'll be in my prayers!

Hi Kristen! I wanted to say that i'm so happy you're keeping your head up, even though i know it must be difficult - I think that will only help. When I read over your "stats," we seem so similar - same length LPs, I ovulated later in my cycle, etc. I actually never charted, only did OPKs and used pre-seed. Are you and your DH having sex in the days before, during, and after ovulation? I echo the other ladies in saying make sure your DH is also as healthy as possible - since it seems you're very healthy, I'm sure it would only ease your mind to know you both are doing everything you can. After you and your DH DTD, are you waiting to pee and all of that good stuff? During our ovulation window (before, during, and right after) after my DH and I DTD, I would just go straight to sleep. Some say this isn't healthy, but I wanted to make sure every little swimmer possible stayed up there! Haha. I also did the thing where I inclined my hips, to try to help even more. I used pre-seed every time, too. Not sure if these are wives tales, or what exactly worked, but just a few tips and tricks.

Sending piles of baby dust your way! xoxoxo

I'm sorry Kristen!  My heart breaks for you, because I know how much you two so badly want this.  BUT I'm also very optimistic for you, because you are young and healthy.

From what you say you are MUCH healthier than A LOT of women who manage to get pregnant.  I think you've made great strides!

The only tips I have are: I've heard first thing in the morning to BD is best.  Maybe try every other day in the mornings this cycle?  Get your DH on his multi-vitamin.  I've also heard men need a lot of protein to help their swimmers.  I've heard things like high protein yogurt and/or taking probiotics (we buy Greek yogurts that have 8-12g protein per serving and DH has one once a day).  Plus he has 1 probiotic capsule a day (recommended is 1-2, but we go with 1 since he has the yogurt too).

I've heard anxiousness, stress, etc are all forms of birth control - for both men and women.  My doctor told me she cringes every time someone tells her they're temping and charting.  She said (in her opinion) that you shouldn't start tracking like that until you've tried for 6-12 months.  She said all too often women over analyze, on top of other stressors, and it sends all the bad hormones that prevent pregnancy.  I actually work with a girl who conceived on cycle #12 and she said it was the first cycle she wasn't stressed or worried.  I'm stressed about every day, because I have such high standards about being a high performer at work, to homemade meals, to maintaining a clean house, squeezing in workouts, etc.  I am definitely trying to find ways to reduce my stress levels and "let go" more, but it's my personality and what makes it possible for me to accomplish so much in a day.  It's tricky!

Just popping in to send you a hug, Kristen! I know you guys want this so much, and I am constantly thinking happy, positive thoughts for you.

I don't really have any special advice to offer, mostly because I think everyone is so unique and we all seem to get different outcomes doing the exact same things! I would probably lean more towards the wives tales and relaxation techniques for now since they are fairly easy to control. But I have a hard time simplifying it and telling anyone who has been trying for a bit to "relax." I know that is darn near impossible! (Especially if, like Athena said, it is just not in your DNA!) And for some of the women who need to use extended measures like IUI or IVF, there is clearly more to it beyond relaxation......

(FWIW, we used a combo of things similar to the others. DTD every other day before/during/after ovulation window, DH "goes" first/same time as you, waiting for a bit afterwards/incline. I also never did OPKs. I loved charting and didn't find it stressful at all, but I was afraid the OPKs might actually cause us to miss our window and/or stress more, so I didn't want to rely on them.)

The one thing that seems really encouraging to me (and I think Laurie pointed this out awhile back) is that it seems like everyone in this group eventually gets their BFP. Some ladies have been trying for years and have finally been blessed with their little ones. I truly hope your journey is not much longer, but you have every reason in the world to be hopeful. You are young, healthy and, most importantly, informed. You are going to appreciate it dearly when it happens for you.

Sending you so much love. We are all hoping the very best for you!
