temping question

Hey ladies! I' finally on night shift where I can starr temping!!! Yay! Hopefully doing this will help me determine if the Chinese medicine/ accupuncture is helping my body get back to normal. My question is what do I do if I wake up in the middle of the night to pee?! Temp then? Even if I've only been asleep 4 hrs it so? Thx ladies!

Glad to hear you're giving temping a go! Have you read the book TCOYF? I think of it as the manual for temping. It goes over how to calculate temping during time changes, etc so it probably speaks to shift work, as well. Honestly, since temping I've been more conscience about drinking close to bed time to avoid those during-the-night bathroom breaks. When I do wake up during the night I temp, go to the bathroom, then temp when I wake up again. I think Claire said she has the same temp regardless of when she wakes during the night (which I think TCOYF says is common). However, I don't, but I do see a pattern (it rises about 0.1C for every hour of sleep). If I wake at midnight and I'm 36.3C, then fall back asleep and temp at 4am I'd be 36.7C. I've "tested" this at multiple times during my cycle and it's very consistent. So if I wake an hour before my alarm and can't fall back asleep I will usually add 0.1C to my temp, lie to FF that it's the usual time, and it sounds "wrong" but works for me and my chart. Good luck!

Oh, about the 4hrs thing, TCOYF says you need a minimum 3 hours so your example of 4hrs would be okay. It's more about trying to get your temp at the same time each day with minimum 3 hours of sleep.

Thanks winterbride:) I have read part of TCOYF:) With the POF diagnosis I feel like it doesn't pertain to me, although the tempibg would:)

I get up to take my puppy outside in the middle of the night. Now that I'm back to temping this cycle, I tried temping when I take him out @ 2am and when I get up for the day at 5:30am. There was only a very small variation-- .01 to .03 degrees difference. Not really enough to matter on my chart. So I just do it in the morning. Maybe you could try temping at both times and see if there's a difference for you? GL!
