Having mostly recovered from my HSG I am ready to get started on getting that BFP this cycle! It is such a relief to know we are now actually able to conceive!
I am on CD11 today - I O between CD13 and CD16, so anytime now!
I will admit that as I started to believe that my tubes were blocked because of my history of ruptured cysts that I have way slacked on my diet. Weight training has also gone out the window since the puppies arrived - but I still walk between 3-6 miles per day with my clients. I sat down with Nutrition for a Healthy Pregnancy again yesterday and refreshed myself and talked over what I need to tweak with DH. I actually hadn't done as bad as I thought - I have maintained my increase in whole grains that I started last year and fruits and vegetables have never been a problem, but I have been indulging in a lot of chocolate and sweets (mostly because I've just been so tired with the puppies and it was a quick energy fix).
I'm also back on about 60 mg of caffeine a day - I know that is not a terribly high amount, but my blood sugar stays way more stable when I'm off caffeine entirely. I cannot just quit because I still have one puppy left (he got injured by a littermate the day he was supposed to go home, so I still have him while he heals - another 2-3 weeks, yikes, and I am up with him 3 times a night to potty) but I am working at reducing it little by little. I'd like to be off entirely by the time I hit 6 weeks in my pregnancy - provided we get our BFP this month!
It is funny. In December of 2011 DH and I decided that we would TTC in March of 2013. I found a dr that I liked and told her our plan and asked what we needed to do - she told me that it was up to us, but because of our ages (and my medical history) she would like to see us start sooner rather than later. And that, also because of age/history, if no BFP with charts after 6 months we could go ahead and get tested. I told DH what she said and we moved our timeline up to August/September 2012 (we did want to wait because we were just about out of debt). Well, here we are. Testing done, tubes unblocked and now we know that it didn't matter how much we tried before, but March 2013 is truly our first month of TTC that it can work! LOL
athena85 - my first months off of BCP, even though I was regular and my O was consistent, my CM was never what it was supposed to be. Your body is still adjusting to the proper hormone levels without prompting from a pill. If it is still not ideal when you are ready to TTC then get some pre-seed to supplement or take Mucinex (NOT the kind with the DM). I'm doing both, but dang it, my tubes are OPEN! and I'm not wasting any more time! LOL
LOL - HOLY COW! Didn't meant to write a book, ladies! LOL
@ Claire ~ we won't be actively TTC till mid-June (I'm booked until then for spine injections for my bad back). I agree (so thanks for confirming) that if my CM isn't ideal by then we'll be adding Pre-Seed. I Googled it and I have to order it, as it isn't sold in stores in Canada, but that's fine.
I love that Nutrition book too! I pull it out every few months as a reminder. I agree with you - I do really well eating-wise, but I still need to curb my sweet tooth a bit more. And I'm not a coffee drinker, but I quit my green tea. I don't even miss the caffeine from it, but I miss that nice hot drink first thing in the morning. I've now replaced it with hot lemon water.
My doctor thinks I went off BCP too early (sometimes she makes me shake my head though, LOL, but dr's in Canada are hard to find). Actually, if I had my way I would have gone off last summer, to ensure I could regulate. Anyway, I'm glad you and DH got great advice from your doctor! You are now so educated and have learned a lot during this time. And how PERFECT that so soon after having your tubes cleared that you're going to O. FX! DH will be a happy man the next few days ;-)
That is funny - my dr told me that she wanted me off BCP a minimum of 3 months before we were TTC. So I went off in May last year. FX that things keep regulating for you!
I am also not a coffee drinker, but man do I love my black tea and Dr. Pepper! (I actually drink Red Rose which is a Canadian black tea ;) My DH got me drinking it - he used to spend 2 weeks every summer fishing in Canada.)
Claire - glad the HSG went well! it's baby time for you!! :)
Athena - ditto what Claire said, I'm sure it can take a while for things to "get back to normal" but Pre-Seed may be a good option! we've been using it and I like it so far.
I'm 11 DPO today and expecting my period maybe tomorrow (if my cycle is 31 days like it was last month). Started cramping/lower back aches on Saturday. I just don't think it happened this month (just a gut feeling), but that's ok. If by some miracle I don't get my period tomorrow, I'll plan on testing either Wed or Thurs morning. :)
Claire: I'm so excited for you this cycle! It must feel amazing to know you have a real shot this time! My fingers and toes are crossed for you:)
Athena: Glad to hear you're doing well with your TTC prep, and that your body seems to be regulating.
Jenny: I hope AF stays away for you! Good luck!
I'm on CD21 today, and not really sure what's going on due to the tummy bug/fever I had on CD17 and 18. I had a positive OPK, but I don't think I actually ovulated when I was supposed to since my temps were low (back down to pre-O normal) following the fever, but I did have a pretty decent rise this morning, so it's possible I did finally O yesterday. Hopefully FF will be able to confirm in the next few days. I've heard that when you're sick, it's common for your body to delay O, so I'm thinking that's what happened. We still had good BD timing if I did O yesterday, so FX that my LP is long enough this cycle to make a BFP feasable. I'm not holding my breath, though...CD20 is pretty late:(
Happy Monday Ladies! Hope everyone had a nice weekend! :)
@ athena: When I went off BCP years ago, my cyles were all over the place, so it could take some time before you are in the 'normal zone', but hopefully your temperatures continue to stay regulated :)
@ claire: Oooo I hope you O real soon!! Best wishes for you this cycle!!! :) So glad to hear your procedure went well!
@ jenny: Aww, you never know until she shows!! Sending you positive vibes!! :)
@ littlebit: I hope you are feeling better from your stomach bug now? It is very possible that O was delayed, but hopefully your rise this morning meant that you did O yesterday! :) How long are your cycles typically? There have been a lot of woman who have gotten BFP with a short luteal phase! Good luck to you dear!! :)
This is my first ttc cyle and today I am 8DPO. I should be expecting AF either on Saturday or Sunday...I don't expect to get a BFP on our first cycle, but hey I can be hopeful right? ;) ...Normally I would have started to have sore bbs by now, but nothing so far, which is weird. I hate the waiting game!
@claire: Wrong choice of wording-sorry! Great result, painful procedure is what I meant! :)
@dennys: Best of luck to you hun!! :) The 2WW is so hard! I am 8dpo and I can't seem to keep my mind distracted!
FX that March is your month Claire!!
So anxious for our ladies testing soon, baby dust and tons of sticky vibes for all of you!!
I'm CD7 and this is my first cycle of BCP and I'm anxious to see how things progress. I've been telling DH that we can't BD on certain days until July, then we can BD all we want. ;)
I've been taking my prenatals pretty regularly and they've been treating me better. I've given up taking them in the morning completely. I take them with dinner now since I'm afraid of taking them on an empty stomach right before bed. I see my OBGYN tomorrow for my annual. Slightly nervous but I'm not entirely sure why!
FX and baby dust to all of our testers! I've been watching what I am eating and working out more for the last 3 weeks--I'm down 10 pounds and feeling great about it.
DH's doctor called on Friday to tell us he is back in the office and we can reschedule his reversal. He said his schedule is less busy in the spring/summer than winter, so we won't have the long wait once we schedule. DH's boss is on sick leave currently, so as soon as he returns, we will have the surgery scheduled. Thank goodness! I'm not getting too excited yet, after it being cancelled twice, I'm too negative. It will happen, it will happen, it will happen is what I keep telling myself!
Yea missjess! Hoping it happens sooooooo soon!
Okay ladies, I haven't even O'd yet but I feel soooooo crummy today. My tummy is upset and NOTHING tastes right =( Since this is our first real shot at TTC I am trying to eat as well as possible, but I have had next to nothing and I've been up for 4 hours. I had some raspberry leaf tea, but that didn't help. I had a few bites of a hot-cross bun that my MIL sent for Easter (I know, not the best, but I <3 her hot-cross buns so I thought it would at least taste good). Scrambled eggs made me want to gag. The strawberries were moldy....
I forced some dried apricots down so my blood sugar would stay up.....any ideas??????
@claire: Oh hun, I am sorry you aren't feeling well. Not being able to eat certainly isn't helping either.. :( Do you happen to have any toast? If so, maybe pair it with a bit of honey or jam? Maybe some applesauce or white rice, if you have some? Those are light and bland foods that usually help me if my tummy is upset and I don't have an appetite. Ginger mints work wonders for me also. They sell them at the grocery store, like Trader Joes. I hope you find something that settles well with your stomach! :) P.S. What is a hot-cross bun? I have never heard of that, but it sounds so yummy!
LOL - okay I was trying to figure out how to describe a hot-cross bun other than YUMMY! So I googled them and guess what!? There's a wikipedia page! LOL
Feeling better today - I know most of it is probably just pure exhaustion. I am not holding my breath for a BFP this month - we are both still so tired.
FF is saying I O'd on CD12 (NEVER O'd that early before but I know its possible), but I didn't expect to O until CD13 or later. I am half expecting FF to shift my O date in another few days after some higher temps - it shifted again this morning and based on my symptoms I would have expected an O yesterday (CD14). Although I guess that means I'm already a few days into my TWW when I thought it was just starting? LOL
OMG, WHAT IF?!
lol Claire! Of course their is a wikipedia page! hehe. Those look soo delicious!! I'll have to look up a good recipe for them!
Glad you are feeling better today! :) Stess and exhaustion can do that to you...
Hmmm, it would definitely be possible to have O'd on CD12! Last month I did on CD10! Days earlier than I normally do. I guess you will just have to wait a couple more days to see! That would be great if you were already 3DPO!? :)
