birthday party...menu?

I'm thinking about throwing DH a surprise birthday party. Depends if Im 8 months pregnant or not. Cocktail party style. Since dh's favorite meal is breakfast, I was thinking that could be the theme. But I need meu ideas, and stuff I could possible pre-make a day or two ahead would be awesome!

I've made these mini frittatas a bunch of times and they are easy and good...you could make the mixture ahead of time and bake them off right before.  And they are good room temp...  The recipe uses full size muffin tins but I'm sure you could do mini muffin tin-style to be more cocktail party like.

And you could make mini muffins...you can even bake them a week or two ahead of time and then freeze them.  Take them out of the freezer on the morning of the party and they are good to go by party time!

Make a "fancy" pig in a blanket...a nice sausage in a puff pastry with a mustard dip?  Like this?

A  huge fruit salad...or even fruit kabobs since it's cocktail style...

Mimosas...a mimosa bar where you have prosecco and a bunch of different juices to add to it.

Love this idea.... Unfortunately my DH is not a big breakfast fan, so I don't get to make all of my yummy breakfasts very often.

This one is super easy and you prep it the night before (up to 24 hours).

Stuffed French Toast Strata

1 1-pound loaf unsliced French bread
1 8 oz. cream cheese, cubed
8 eggs
2 1/2 c. milk, light cream or half & half
6 Tbsp butter or margarine, melted
? c. maple syrup

? Cut French bread loaf into cubes. (You should have about 12 cups of bread cubes.)
? Grease a 13x9x2 inch baking dish.
? To assemble, in the prepared baking dish place half of the bread cubes. Top with cream cheese cubes, and then with the remaining bread cubes.
? In a blender container or a mixing bowl with a rotary beater, mix together the eggs, milk, melted butter or margarine, and maple syrup until well combined.
? Pour egg mixture evenly over bread and cheese cubes. Using a spatula, slightly press layers down to moisten. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 to 24 hours.
? Remove plastic wrap from baking dish. Bake in 325? oven for 35-40 minutes or till the center appears set and the edges are lightly golden. Let stand about 10 minutes before serving. Serve with Apple Cider Syrup.

Apple Cider Syrup

1/2 c. sugar
4 tsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 c apple cider or apple juice
1 Tbsp lemon juice
2 Tbsp butter or margarine

? In a small saucepan stir together the sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon. Then stir in the apple cider/juice and lemon juice.
? Cook and stir the mixture of medium heat till mixture is thickened and bubbly.
? Then cook and stir for 2 minutes more.
? Remove saucepan from heat and stir in the butter or margarine till melted.

ooo I love this idea.  Over the summer I had what we called a "grown up brunch" in our garden with about 20 friends....made a hot sausage, fontina, and bell pepper strata, pancakes, sausage, bacon, stuffed french toast, cinnamon rolls, citrus tarts
