cookies gone wrong

what have i done wrong


 i was trying to whip egg whites to peak an it didn't go so well


i followed the directions


they were suppose to be coconut meringue cookies but instead the where white blobs in the oven


is there some technique to it im not getting

I've done the same thing with meringue cookies. How long did you whip them? It takes like, 6 or 7 minutes of whipping to get them stiff enough. I gave up after 3 or 4 thinking that was enough!  Also did you have to add anything, like sugar to the eggs once they were whipped? If so you have to add it a little bit at a time very gently, or the eggs will deflate.

oooooooooh , yep i just didnt give it long enough an i may have added the sugar in to large of quantitys ,

Great tips chest173! One more thing to keep in mind is the bowl and whatever you use to whip. Make sure they are as clean as possible (no butter or oil on it if you just used it for something else) and that it is completely dry.
