Cookies recipe

My FMIL insists, that we will donate a little present to non-invited-people (like co-workers, neighbors, etc.), who are giving a present to us. I loved the suggestion of DreaminBride to bake some cookies. So I will do this cookie-idea. I will wrap them in beautiful (tissue) paper and will bind little corked glass bottles filled with wildflower seedson this cookie-present. And furthermore I will add a Thank You- Card.

So now my question:

I need a really delicious recipe for American Cookies. Since I am from Germany, American Cookies here do not taste very Amercian. So I need a original recipe (every kind of taste).

Can you help me?

That is a very nice idea!

How about classic chocolate chip? Here is a good recipe from marthastewart.com:

Also, this is my favorite recipe for making flourless peanut butter cookies:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

1 cup peanut butter

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 egg

1 cup crushed dry roasted peanuts

Mix the first four ingredients together; stir in crushed peanuts. Roll the dough into small balls (about 1" in diameter) and place on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes.
