Does anyone use coupons? Is it worth all the clipping? What are the best websites to get coupons?
Yes. I am obsessed with coupons!! My fiance and I go every Sunday to the grocery store, and first sit down with coffee at a table and clip the coupons from the Washington Post. I have a little holder (got it at Target in the dollar bins a couple years ago) that I organize them with. FI knows the system, so it works out where we can clip, organize, and be ready to shop before we finish our coffee! haha We make a list before we go of the things we need for the weeks meals. We found that this way we're not shopping "just because we have a coupon". Most of the time, the coupon in the Sunday paper is for a sale item in the store. Stores are good for that!! Then we take our list, and highlight or star* the items we have a coupon for so we don't forget at checkout to pull it out! We usually save much more than we spend!!
On weeks that we don't do this...we end up spending about $75 more than we would otherwise! Yesterday, for instance, we spend $133 for the week, and our coupon and sale item savings was $189. :) :) :)
Good luck!! It takes some time getting used to, but it's sooooooo worth it!
I really want to take a class on coupon cutting...LOL. I have found that when I have clipped coupons, I buy usless stuff that I normally wouldn't buy but I purchase because I have a coupon :-)
I still have a lot to learn!
I get the Sunday paper purely for the coupons! I think it's worth it, as long as they were things you were going to buy. If you're going to save a dollar buying crackers that you don't usually get, then it's pretty pointless.
Best place has been www.moneysavingmadness. This website has saved me tons of money and also hooked up some great deals.
Try and find a regional blog about coupon cutting and store match-ups. I have a local one here in MI that I am wholeheartedly dedicated to. =) Every week she'll take coupons and match them up with the best store sales around town. Saves me a boat load of time. Bargins to Bounty to see what I mean.
I'm obsessed with it:) I check all the papers and websites.Unfortunately today I got called white trash by the guy behind me for checking out with all my coupons. Unfortunately for him that is. FFI took care of his rude comment outside. I think the man left feeling 2 inches tall and needing to go to church:)
awww Riley I'm sorry to hear that....... I'm glad the FI handled that. He needs church and an a** kicking IMO.
i love coupons but always forget them at home and end up losing them. i havent used a coupon at a store in years. :(
I also want to take a class on coupon cutting... :) we never end up using them, we just collect and forget...
***that SUCKS rileymichelle21. I'm sorry that happened.***
I clip them, but I never use them. I only look in the Sunday paper and the ones they have in the aisles at the grocery store.
I'm particular about what I buy, and those things never seem to have a coupon :(
www.thekrazycouponlady.com will explain it all.... its amazing how much free stuff you can get
You guys, seriously start using coupons! I'm not crazy-wild using coupons, but it's nothing for me to save 6 or 7 bucks each time I shop with coupons. It really adds up! For example, I never buy laundry detergent (Tide due to hub's skin issues) without it being on sale AND with $1.00 coupon. This alone saves me about $3.00 on Tide!
I don't keep coupons on items I don't use regularly. That is, unless it's a new product and I want to try it. And I don't buy name brand items if a generic is just as good even though I may have a coupon. I buy based upon the final price of the item. So, sometimes I'll have say a Green Giant frozen veggie coupon, and when on sale, I'll buy them, but if not on sale I look to see what the generic brand costs and base my decision accordingly. I try to time using a coupon when a product is on sale too.
It's a little bit of a pain to 'coupon', but I just keep my coupons in my car. That way they are usually handy. There are a few times I may be with someone else and not have my coupons with me, but that doesn't happen very often.
Keep track of how much you save using coupons and you'll soon find you'll start using them even more! Now I get mad when I let a good one expire!
Is there a good internet coupon site? There's no way I'll subscribe to newspapers just to get coupons. I hate paper waste!
