Crock pot question...

Hey gals...just bought a crock pot yesterday...woo hoo!  I have a question though...if I'm making a recipe that calls for browning the meat first, like a pot roast, is it okay to brown the meat the night before, let it come to room temp and put in the fridge overnight?  I ask because there's no way I will have time in the mornings before leaving for work to fuss with browning.  Can I do this and then dump it all in the crock pot in the morning?  Thanks!!

I think it would be fine, but when I make my pot roast, I stick it in there without browning and it turns out wonderfully!

I use this recipe and add potatoes and carrots as well.  Everything has great flavor...

Personally, I'm funny with raw beef and I would not chance it.  I don't brown mine and it turns out great.  I would skip the browning and just toss it in the crockie!

I always just stick the raw beef in the crockpot .... never had a problem and it always turns out delicious.

Is it specifically a crockpot recipe that is calling for browning the meat? Or is it a conventional one that you are using with a crockpot

I have done this before because I recipe called for it..Like you, I didn't have time to do it in the morning and did it at night, refrigeratated it then threw it in in the morning.  No problems here!  Now that you have a crockpot, make sure to post you recipes!!!

Haha...Honestly, I never brown mine either, but I didn't want to say it! Just throw it all in the crockpot.
