Does anyone have a good recipe for this? I have found a million of them, but not sure which one is the best. TIA!!
Me too!! I always make it in the oven, but for our rehearsal dinner FMIL wants to make some. I wont be able to help make it and it is a bit time consuming. Hoping to just set it and forget in the good ol crock pot!!
I made crocpot mac & cheese and it was a complete FAILURE!! I dont know what I did to it, I swear I followed the directions exactly, but it came out browned on the bottom and not gooey-cheesy like I was expecting. DH said it tasted like quiche- OK mac & cheese should NOT taste like an EGG casserole!!!
I just wont waste the ingredients to try it again.. much safer stovetop or in the oven!!!
I doctor Paula Deen's crockpot mac n' cheese recipe - and it's freaking DELICIOUS. I've made it for the last 3 Christmases for our families, and it's always a huge hit.
The edits in boldface italics are the changes I make:
Boil the macaroni in a 2 quart saucepan in plenty of water until tender, about 7 minutes. Drain. In a medium saucepan, mix butter and cheese. Stir until the cheese melts. In a slow cooker, combine cheese/butter mixture and add the eggs, sour cream, soup, salt, milk, mustard and pepper and stir well. Then add drained macaroni and stir again. Set the slow cooker on low setting and cook for 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
My husband LOVES Mac and Cheese - thanks for your version of the recipe :)
okay, I just had a dream about this...lol I think that means it's time to try making it!
I am trying it today :D
I made the one that Gator posted for dinner last night (Paula Deens recipe) and oh.my.gosh. it is the best mac n cheese Ive ever had! DH is pretty picky and he went for seconds. I followed Gators advice and made the changes she does. Delicious! Thanks for posting!
I did it... and well...It tasted pretty good. But when cooking it, was looking awesome, then my mom came in TWICE and left the lid off so it got all chunky looking. Still tasted good, but it lost that beautiful creamy texture it had going. So word of advice...don't let pesky people leave the lid off lol!
Oh, yay! I'm so glad to read this! I am living vicariously through you ladies as I have to lay off the carbs for a while ;)
I will def have to try this one! yum yum
sounds yummo, DH wont eat it but =(
I tried it. It turned out really well, but for some reason, it just tasted bland, even with the changes you all suggested. :(
I think next time I might try different cheeses and halve the amount I make. We had leftovers for DAYS!
mmm..so doing this next week!
I'm trying it soon!
