Hmmm...is there any sort of "theme"?

I love skewers.  Any kind:  chicken, seafood, fruit :)

When I have that many people, I like to do different appetizers and not an actual meal.  And if I DO do an actual meal, I keep it easy like Italian.

What about doing something like a pot roast or something?  Anything that needs to cook in the oven for a few hours.  That way you can prep the whole thing way ahead of time and get it in the oven.  Then once everyone is there, you just have to cut it up and serve it?  I made a pot roast from Pioneer Woman recently and it was soooo yummy!  And you can make mashed potatoes ahead of time and keep them in a slow cooker on low to keep them warm until serving time...

For italian, you can do lasagna?  Assemble it ahead of time and then just pop it in the oven just before everyone gets there?

Or you could go mexican and assemble chicken enchiladas ahead of time then pop them in the oven a bit before go time.  I did that recently, though only for four, but same concept.  I made yummy chipotle chicken enchiladas.  And I made spanish rice and black beans ahead of time and just reheated at dinner time...

And if you have veggies in the group (my friend was PG when I made the enchiladas and can't stand meat when she's PG), you can make a few enchiladas cheese ones...

I have NOT ever made skewers in the oven, I always throw them on the barbeque.  But you could make them outside and then just have them "warming" in the oven when the guests get there.  I've seen this done before.

When I do Italian, I actually do spaghetti (bows her head in shame), I swear I make a good one though, and along with it a seafood pasta that is DElicious.  Lots of crusty to bread to go with it.

After reading beatie's posts though, I'm totally onboard for some Mexican.  That sounds gooooood :)

Mexican would be easy...you could make cheese enchiladas or something for the non-meat eaters.

If you made lasagna, you could do a small spinach/eggplant/veggie lasagna for them.

When I have that many people over, I usually do something like red beans & rice with sausage, chicken chili, or this mexi-venison skillet meal that DH and I love.  Then add salad and bread and you are good to go.

You could also do pepper steak.  Not sure what you'd do for the non-meat eaters though.

I made shrimp enchiladas for 12 for a superbowl party last year. It was a perfect big-group solution!

I vote for enchiladas or Lasagna check out this link for a great lasagna recipe. I have made both many times and have always had tons of compliments. Good luck :)

you could do a tapas style party and that way you can try lots of recipes - but I agree there should be a "theme" if you will do that

I agree w/corky. I think a tapas style party would be fun (since everyone can mingle and eat) and it would hopefully be simpler!

When we have a large crowd for super bowl I always do a taco bar so that I can get everything ready in advance and can just plop it out when we are ready. That way I dont get stuck in the kitchen the whole time and I can actually watch the game.

I have a GREAT chicken skewers recipe with thai peanut sauce that is made in the oven. EVERYONE loves them. I make them when we go camping and we eat them cold and they are even great like that. We take them to the hollywood bowl, the beach, potlucks, everywhere!

This squash lasagna could be a big hit. My hubby loved it! He was sad when it was all gone. :(  Its a good twist on regular lasagna. Makes you look fancy! :)
