Ganache

I make regular chocolate ganache but was wondering how do I make it thick like a  frosting? do I just add cream cheese to the mixture or do I add butter? Do I need to add anything else? Any help would be appreciated.

Chocolate Ganache Topping

Ingredients:
6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
2 tablespoons whipping cream

Instructions:
Whisk all ingredients in small saucepan over medium-low heat until melted and smooth. Cool and then refrigerate. It will thicken and then can be used to ice the cake, though its easier to pour the ganache over the layers of cake, then refrigerate.

To make it thicker, use less cream.  And you'll need to let it cool for several hours before it will reach the right consistency.

Oh, and you can also whip it to make it spreadable.

I was trying to see if you could make ganache like a buttercream but I am guessing that won't work. Maybe I will experment with it.

@ovt22 you can  put it on any type of cake or cupcake. I made a dark chocolate cake with raspberry filling and poured ganache over it it was yummy. also you can put in a table spoon of your favorite liquer in it and that will flavor it. you can use chocolate chips or chocolate bars or white chocolate. I use to use Hersheys dark chocolate bars but now we love lindt chocolate you can use white chocolate too. Also if you put in in the fridge over night and let it set you can roll into balls and make truffles.
