Mandoline?

Do you own one?  Do you use it often?  Is it worth getting one?  I am planning on making a dish that requires LOTS of thinly sliced carrot sticks but I’m dreading the idea of cutting them the ol’ fashion way.  A mandoline may do the trick but wondering if I will ever use it again…

I use mine all the time! I have the Vidalia Slice Wizard (as seen on TV). It work's great. But I'm going to register for the KitchenAid Mandolin.

Unless it's going to break the bank, I'd go for it because it could definitely come in handy.  I don't have one but I WANT one!!!

It's fairly inexpensive. I've seen them in the $15 to $40 range so not breaking the bank. But my kitchen is small and I'm just afraid to clutter it with unnecessary appliances. I found a smaller, handheld version by Oxo from Crate and Barrel. I may get that one.

i have wished that i had one every now and then but haven't gotten one for the same reason... we just don't have the room for any more kitchen gadgets. i'd definitely get one if we had a bigger kitchen.
