shrimp an grits

made this when my mom an sis came over for dinner everyone loved it


shrimp


1 tbs olive oil


2clves garlic minced


1/2 cup dice onion


1/2 cup celery diced


1/2 cup dice carrots


1-14ounce can dice tomatoes


1/2 teasn tabaso sauce-i didnt add


1/4 worcestershire sauce


1/4 cup diced roasted red pepper - with the pickles in the groucery store


1/4 taspn paprika


1/4 taspn red pepper flakes- we didnt add


salt to taste


blk ppr to taste


1/4 cup chopped basil


2pds shrimp peeled


heat over med. in a medium pan


add tomatoes, Tabasco ,Worcestershire , roast red ppr, paprika, crush red ppr flakes, basil, salt& ppr


let simmer for 20 to 30 or until sauce reduces


add shrimp an cook for another 4 mins or until shrimp are pink


GRITS


6 CPS water


2cups half n half


salt to taste


1/4 teaspn white pper - we just used blk ppr


2cups quick grits


1/2 cup grated white cheddar cheese


4 tblespns butter


over med. heat in a large pan  combine water ,h-n-h, salt ,ppr , bring to boil , slowly pour in grits ,whisking the entire time, reduce heat whisk often until grits are thick about 10 mins  add cheese allow to melt, let grit set for 5 mins add butter stir ,


serve shrimp over grits, delicious
