Can you only make espresso with an espresso machine?
i do believe so lol. not quite sure tho, i dont drink coffee
Espresso machines shoot very hot water through very tightly packed, finely ground coffee beans, generally under some pressure. I'm not sure how you would replicate it without a machine, but that's not saying it nobody else has found a way!
That said, though I looooooooove a good cup of espresso, both french press and the italian-style coffee engines make a very good cup of coffee. It's not the same but still tasty. :)
Thanks ladies... I am wanting to make Tiramisu and the recipe I have calls for espresso so I was trying to figure out how to make it! Maybe someone will chime in on how to replicate it for a recipe? Otherwise I guess I have to go to Starbucks LOL
you don't have to have just an espresso maker to make it. bialetti makes a stovetop maker that works really well. its about $80-100, but if you're just needing it for tiramisu then you'd be fine to just get some espresso beans and just make it in a regular coffee maker. i made some espresso fudge and just did that it came out great.
heres ina's tip on brewing espresso in a drip coffee maker:
Notes: To make espresso for this recipe in your electric drip coffee maker, use enough water for 4 cups of coffee plus 1/3 cup of ground espresso.
Oh, tiramisu. Yummmmmm! You should be more than fine substituting for that. ;)
